What's your favourite video games?

Mario Kart has gotten worse with every iteration since the SNES version, its good but not brilliant like the other 3 I mentioned. Eternal Darkness is good, but again not as good as those 3. I havent played Viewtiful Joe yet though.

OK, these games are not all ones I am necessarily interested in myself (though I am interested in most of them), and aren't all AAA titles, but are ones that are all above par, and are better than what is exclusive on the XtremeBOX.

Quality exclusive games coming to the GameCube (I think they are all scheduled for this year):

Animal Crossing 2
Dead Phoenix
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles
Fire Emblem
Geist
Giftpia
Killer 7
Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour
Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes
Metroid Prime 2
Paper Mario
Pikmin 2
Pilotwings
Phantasy Star Online Episode III: C.A.R.D. Revolution
Pokemon series
Resident Evil 4
Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy
Star Fox 2
Tales of Symphonia
The Legend of Zelda series
Too Human
Wario Ware Inc. Mega Party Game$

Quality exclusive games already out on GameCube:

1080 Avalanche
Animal Crossing
Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg
Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem
F-Zero GX
Ikaruga
Mario Kart: Double Dash!!
Mario Party series
Metroid Prime
P.N.03
Resident Evil series
Skies of Arcadia Legends
Sonic Mega Collection
Star Fox Adventures
Star Wars Rogue Squadron series
Super Mario Sunshine
Super Monkey Ball series
Super Smash Bros. Melee
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
Viewtiful Joe
Wave Race: Blue Storm

Also, it isn't like the XBOX releases quality exlusive titles any more regularly, just the multiplatform games which come out on the GC as well as the ones listed.

Another point, I don't even know why I got talking about sales because all I am argueing is quality, and the sales figures only back up my arguement about people not knowing quality.

Blitzy, how many of those are AAA titles that will be as good as the 3 I mentioned? Considering none of the titles already released that you mention are as good as the 3 I mention, not many...

I have the following, which is why I cant believe you added them to a "quality" games list:
Wave Race is terrible, they SCREWED the control system badly, the original is 100 times better.

Monkey Ball is the most furstrating game I have ever played, it nearly killed my GC and controller. It is not FUN, it is not QUALITY, it is EVIL.

Resident Evil is flawed *completely* (can only pick up 6 items and cant drop anything unless you find a chest? Idiotic, who cares if it has good graphics?). I cant begin to tell you how much I hate this game and its stupid design decisions.

FZero, fun, but by no means brilliant at all, gets boring after a couple of days.

The Rogue Squadron series is NOT quality gaming, its fun but frustrating and has a heap of design flaws like being unable to see the enemies on some levels without the targeting computer.

Your definition of quality is obviously different to mine, but then, you ARE easily pleased :)

It will be interesting to see just how many of those games on your 2004 list get released, let alone which ones are AAA titles...

I know, but you said the GC was outselling the XBOX and its not, thats all :)

I never said it was outselling the XBOX, I said in Australia the difference in market share is alot bigger than anywhere else and the GC is not doing as poorly as it appears from out point of view.

Secondly, I never said those games were AAA titles, I said they are all above par and better than most of the exclusive titles on the XBOX, which they are, except for the few which aren't my cup of tea or I haven't played yet, but have heard only good things about from people who do like them or have played them.

And I agree, there hasn't been THAT many AAA titles on any console this generation, but a handful on the GC, and a shitload of exclusive games that are still great quality even if they aren't classics and are better quality than the exclusive titles on the XBOX, along with all the great multiplatform titles that are majority of the good games on the XBOX, makes for a better console. How can you argue that?

The origional rogue squadron on the N64 rules!
its the only one i have played but me and my mates have spent more time on that game than i care to think about .
It makes me feel like im in the friggin movie

Gavin: Yeah its even better on the GC but its not as good as the other 3 I mentioned at all, that was what I meant :)

I can argue that the XBOX can be modded and play emulators etc. You can argue that it wasnt built to do that, but who cares? As much as the GC rules (and it does) id take a modded XBOX with 1000 arcade games any day of the week :)

dreamcasts can do that without modding

No they cant, they wont play cdrs without being modded. But, having said that, the Dreamcast is perhaps the best console ever apart from the Megadrive and SNES. Marvel Vs. Capcom rocks, as does King Of Fighters, Chu Chu Rocket, Virtua Tennis, Sega Rally, Daytona... Ahh it never ends.

ARGH!

Considering I am completely against piracy, it isn't an option IMO, and when it comes to unmodded standard consoles, the GC is better than the XBOX, for the reasons I have been talking about.

If I want to play emulators I will do so on the PC for free without expensive mods, a console is for console games.

Also, that is another point people use in a console arguement, the XBOX can be modded to do this and that. It needs to be modded to play those games because there is sfa good games on it that you can't get on the other consoles. A console is only as good as its games, and I don't care if the XBOX can be modded to make my coffee and wipe my arse for me, its games suck.

Yes they can.

Spawny your major arguement seems to be that the xbox can play games at better frame rate with better graphics. I get sick of saying to people that graphics don't make gameplay.

Just because it looks good, doesn't mean it plays good.q

That is true. The fact that the XBOX has the worst controller ever also makes for poorer gameplay on multiplatform games.

Look at all the games people in this thread have listed as their favourites of all time. Not many of them are that recent, and the reason people like older games is because they can be such fun to play regardless of graphics.

Thats not my argument at all Koichi, id say 75% of games released these days get released on both XBOX and PS2, and sometimes GC as well, the XBOX version is always superior. You cant tell me that there is nothing worth playing in that 75% of games. Theres plenty.

I own a GC, Dreamcast (well a blown up one until I buy a new one) a PS1 and an N64, my brother has a PS2, Gameboy Advance and XBOX, ive played all of them and found plenty of games to like on each one of them. Im not totally biased against one like you are Blitzy, theres loads of good games on PS2 and XBOX, just as there are on GC. But when it comes down to it, theres very few AAA titles on the GC.

You don't get my point Mr Spawn. I know there is lots of good games on every console, that I agree with, in comparing 2 consoles there is no point looking at the games you can get on both, because you can get them on both, you need to look at what games are exclusive to that console, and there is more quality exclusive titles on the GC than the XBOX. That doesn't mean there isn't quality games on the XBOX, it means there is more quality games on the GC, because you have all the good ones from the XBOX that are multiplatform, and a whole host of exclusive ones as well. You can't honestly tell me there is as many exclusive quality games on the XBOX as all the GC ones I listed earlier, let alone AAA titles...most of the quality titles on the XBOX are available elsewhere. When you say there is very few AAA titles on the GC, there must be less on the XBOX, as most of the ones on the XBOX are also available on the GC, but the GC has its own exclusive ones to add to the list.

I am not biased, I just know which is my favourite after having played each console and alot of their games.

Theres only 3 quality exclusive titles on the GC, 4 if we are going to count Eternal Darkness, which I will because im feeling generous. Monkey Ball and most of the others are available on the other systems and the rest of the games in your list are nowhere near the quality of the 4 I mentioned, which isnt to say they arent good, just not something you would buy a system for.
