What's your musical DISCOVERY of the year albumwise? (not 2009 specifc.)

BPM - "Delete and Roll"

I discovered them while searching for some more Alex Machacek stuff. It's really quirky jazz / prog stuff. Terry Bozzio, Gerald Preinfalk, Alex Machacek.

I got into Andy Timmons albums. Killlller guitar player.
Also rediscovered 80s glam metal such as Shotgun Messiah, Dokken, Extreme, David Lee Roth VAI status,

Got into the new wave of thrash, such as Municipal Waste, Fatal, and I guess you could say Revocation as well.

Got hip to poppier shit such as Paramore, Circa Survive, 30 seconds to mars, Story of the Year, Four Year Strong, Flyleaf, The Sounds, Maroon 5 etc.

Basically 09 saw me not listen to as much "metal" metal as I was listening to in the past. Very few blastbeats.

Architects - Hollow Crown has been BIG for me this year.

i've really got into A Day To Remember aswell.

But the BEST thing i have heard this year is the album "Atlantic" by First Signs Of Frost

small band but i URGE you to check them out www.myspace.com/firstsignsoffrost

promo vid for the album...

Scar Symmetry (Thanks Marcus!)
Megadeth (probably thanks to Jaymz and/or Jesse, not sure which)
And I think that's about it, though it's early here and I'm still half asleep!

I know it's not album specific, but I've recently really got into both those bands where I never had been into them before.

I love the new thick as blood "Embrace" CD. It took some spins in my CD player but after some days it totaly click.
Also I love the production. Soooo brutal and so ANTI-polished!!!!!

Everybody loving super brutal (and also simple) music should check it out
