I thought I'd make a general chat thread for the Borknagar forum, considering we seem to go off topic in every other thread. Just thought it'd be a nice idea to help cut back on the spam and it'll give all us regulars a good place to try and socialise and get to know each other without resorting to messengers/other forums etc.

And I certainly don't believe this thread is pointless; I think every forum should have one in order to avoid lots of spam in other topics of the forum itself .

The best forums on this website are Nevermore and Royal Carnage. Why? They're very tight communities. Why? The forums move extremely fast. Why? Off-topic.

Off topic is always a good thing. Theres only so much to discuss about Borknagar before everything will have been covered, that's why this forum is dead. So I'm completly against the idea of a single off topic thread not that any one cares.

I hate tight community boards. You can't express a radical opinion without being shunned...its like fucking church or something. I just like the boards where you get the information you need and everyone has a sense of humor.

Either way this board will have some form of community whether you like it or not, it's the internet, it happens everywhere. From a personal experience I've made good friends with at least one member here (<3<3<3Tobias) and I'm sure everyone else has a different story, and it's better to keep it all into one thread rather than taking discussions about the band completely off topic. Also you say you want to be able to get the information you need, but it's not always easy if it's posted and hidden in between a load of spam discussing what they're having for lunch that day, which I've sadly seen happen to much and it's hard to go back and find what you need. (I'm a sucker for being organised, ugh)

The Vintersorg forum is doing well with their chat thread, and I don't recall you ever complaining about that either :\

I don't think that this forum is run too tight, I don't censor stuff in general. I only delete when there is obvious spam or a big redundancy of one type of topic. We welcome radical opinions, but I must say that there are limits, if someone wants to express their racist views or fundamental christian beliefs, I suggest that it be expressed elsewhere, the latter I will only delete but the former I will report ( = ban). Bashing of other forum people will not be permitted either. I believe in freedom of expression, but as I said, there are limits. Your opinions expressed here does have an effect on what Borknagar ends up looking like, since this is the official forum of the band. The internet isn't that far off from what goes on in "real life", and what you feel you shouldn't say in public in "real life" you probably shouldn't say on the internet, and most definitively not here on the Borknagar forum. But I believe that most of the regulars here knows these things, and moderate their own expressions, for which I am glad.

That's the point about this. I prefer to organize the forum, it's easier to discuss and read all the stuff.

At least on Vintersorg's forum you can talk about everything without ban or something like that, if we keep the order here, we can enjoy a 'freedom' that it's not present on so much more forums, specially here, on the one-of-the-greatest-black-metal-bands forum. As Tyr said, the forum members and their opinions make an effect on the band's image. If all here are Bork fans, let' do this.

A lot of times the threads become 'off-topic' and sometimes it's very annoying to read 3 pages of off-topic discuss and 1 missed post by one of the band members related to an important thing, then again 3 pages of off-topic discuss...

So, stop this and let's talk where is supposed we must to talk ^^
