Well seeing as how my dad died on that day, I don't think I'll be forgetting that day any time soon.

As for my reaction, this is the exact dialogue that went down:

Friend: Dude, the Twin Towers were just destroyed!!
Me: ......*silence for 2 minutes*..... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Really? Sorry to hear that. I offer my condolences.

And in all honesty this thread isn't about what it has become. I have no interest in discussing conspiracies. Yes, there are a lot out there. Some are much more believeable then others. Maybe it seems like I am backing away from a fight. But I just don't have the energy or modivation to engage in this.

I agree to disagree and leave it at that. If it makes me look like a fool for doing so without back up to my words. So be it. This is suppose to be a mature forum for mature discussions and I don't want to see it any other way.

Unfortunately, I think any discussion of 9/11 and even the nature of government/power and war today, will turn into a conspiracy discussion. Its almost impossible to trust the government, and we're being fed misinformation almost everyday, in almost every sphere: from bogus science studies and reports, to opinion-based news, fact-less news, distorted ideology and terminology, etc. It goes on and on, and it emanates from both left wingers and right, socialists and capitalists, etc, etc. I think all thats left is to use ones logic and knowledge to truly wade through the nonsense, to come to some understanding of the truth, or at least an inkling of the truth.

My sincere condolences on your loss. I'll say it again, SPEED for President.

This is hard to discuss because of the fact that it is so painful to Ptah. However I'll say that I saw it on the tv at home and recorded a few hours live coverage of the event. At first I was not suspicious and was just stunned that I could actually be seeing such an event that was bound to be a turning point in world history. There aren't many of those. I was impressed also that the Arabs appeared to have been able to strike so drastically against the powerful united states.

I only started to suspect a conspiracy when it was mentioned that there should have been considerably more people in the towers on that day than there actually were.

Now, even Fox news has reported in depth on how the Israeli secret service seems to have known this was going to happen.

I could never stand when people told me that they're sorry for something that they didn't do, but thank you. But after 5 years, I figure it's about time I take it like a man, instead of just running away from it, like I have every single year since. Don't let me hinder any discussion.

hahahhaha

Where was I? Sleeping. That evening I had my first class of a 4th year networking course and I was shocked how little everyone seemed to care. I was hoping our professor wouldn't teach because of it, but no such luck. :(

i still don't want to tell this story maybe later
okay
here i was just being stupid

on 9/11
i got up at sunrise the same as every day and when i got up i knew something really historic was going to happen that day so i turn on the telivision flipping through the channels waiting for something important to interupt normal brodcasting instead of waiting for Jerry Springer to come on at 9 am (dallas texas time) when the 2nd plane hit the second tower, the film of it interupted every single channel that was brodcasted in the dallas area (i remember thinking that CNN would somehow get the facts wrong because ted turner himself has complete controll over what CNN will and won't brodcast) then 10 or 20 min later a guy knocked on my door and i can't tell you his name because the FBI already had him labeled as a terrorist... and i'll finish this story later...

I called in sick to work that day. My wife called me from work to tell me that there was a terrible accident in Ney York, that a plane flew into the trade center. It was fucked up, cause as I was watching the news you could see over the reporters shoulder, the other plane coming in and hitting the other tower. After it was determined that it was a terrorist attack I went to the recruting office and signed up. Unfortunately a past bad knee injury as well as being the last male in my family kept me from being enlisted.

Divine providence or sheer luck, saved you from the folly of fighting for misguided American foreign policy, instead of against the actual terrorists (apparently many failed, and still fail to see the irony of fighting with a conventional military against a supposedly organized terrorist front--ludicrous).

i was in middle school in 6th or 7th grade and my teacher had turned on the TV and i had no idea what i was looking at. My aunt and uncle, now divorced, were in a fight and my uncle couldn't get to work in the towers in time so he narrowly missed it. My dad worked nearby but he was far enough away to evacuate.

I was in Bangalore, India.

I actually did not hear about the incident until about ten hours after initial impact - I was walking down the street when an American friend of mine caught up with me and, looking disheveled and bewildered, said "The Twin Towers are gone!"

I thought to myself in the half-moment following his statement "I know he has an odd sense of humor at times, but I can't discern the intended humor."

He handed me a copy of the Hindustan Times newspaper; it depicted one of the now-classic images of the Towers aflame. We went immdeiately to a nearby drinking bar (the only place guaranteed to have satelite TV) - I sat down at the bar in front of four television screens and took in all the reports.

A well dressed gentleman sat down next to me and said "You are American. I am from Iran. I am sorry for this tradgedy."

All airports were shut down, so there was no way to leave the country. After getting in touch with my family and making sure everyone was ok (they all live in New Jersey and New York and some work at the Trade Center), my friend and I made our way up to Nepal where we camped out for about three weeks.

I can't actually remember. I occasionally take time out and visit a hermit friend in the country, that was one such time. The likely answer would be: shooting rabbits, skinning rabbits or making rabbit stew.

Also, I think some folks should temper their inability to seperate their distaste for the US and their love for conspiracy. Someone visited here a while back whom illustrated some of the folly in assuming America is the evil empire.

Yum, rabbit.

I agree with the conspiracy comment. The big conspiracy is flaw in reasoning and philosophy of many in power, and their inability to see their flaws. Otherwise, our evil deeds are out in the open. Our lies, use of force, aims, etc. has nothing to do with conspiracy. This week, we've just repealed the Geneva Convention, and are about to allow wiretapping, and one can read about in the news.

Anyway, I was in a Property Law class (I think it was the second week of my short law school career) , and there were two persons in said class, with relatives that worked in the Trade Center buillding. They were crying, and class was immediately cancelled for the next two days. I remember drinking most of the day and the next with a few friends, and being quite angry all the bars were closed, or were entirely empty, and I remember the long lines at the gas stations.

I was sitting with my family having dinner, when my neighbor yelled out from his house to us about the incident. We rushed in indoors and saw the whole thing on TV. I only slept for an hour or so that night.

Well, where was I when the world stopped turning? I was in Middle School, sitting in class, completely unsuspecting, until I had my lunch period. That's when I heard. And I got taken out of school. And then, days later, a policeman came to my house informing me that my father's body was found in the ruins and wreckage of the towers.

Sorry to hear that.

anyway this supposed terrorist guy that knocks on my door has a last name with several silent letters because he's descended from the royalty of France, he's not middle-eastern. he some how knew that there had been a plane crashing into the pentagon with out knowing that the towers fell, when i showed him the towers falling on my tv, he starts laughing...i'll tell you why later...
