Hmmm...interesting statement. What makes you say that?
Well, we have rock today because that was created from blues and...*thinks hard*...it was blues and something else...it was the friction between the two genres - that created the first form of rock: rockabilly.
That's all I know really about the creation of rock, how it evolved from rockabilly to all the various genres we have today are unknown to me as yet.
You know, in the 18th century etc, it was actually OPERA etc that was considered "pop" music back then...
And even the set-up today's basic rock bad [vocalist, guitarist, bassist, drummer, keyboards [optional] first appeared in later blues bands.
The blues isn't that bad either...I've been learning about Robert Johnson recently...the legend behind that man is amazing...
Many claim he sold his soul to the Devil to have such exceptional musical talent [it was said he could hear a song once, then later on play it note for note, chord for chord, sing it word for word], he played music for 10 years before his early death [around 26-27] and nobody knows how he really died. Many say the Devil killed him, that he was poisoned, stabbed, shot...some claim he said "hell hounds were after him" and that just before he died he was on his knees howling and barking like a dog...it's all quite intriguing really. And nobody knows where he's buried either.
