Minorities tend to stick together and try to be different from whites. Most minority music before rap was seen as uncool by all the young people until RAP came out. MTV ditched metal, replaced it with rap, and the rest is history.

I feel your pain. Being that I appreciate good music as much as I do, there is no "genre" that offends me more than reggaeton. It's not even an exaggeration to say that all the songs sound the same

I think Blacks and Hispanics, to be blunt (no pun intended), are more receptive to beat-driven music rather than heavy aggression. The blacks have an ear for beats reminiscent of the tribal music of their ancestors, while the Hispanics are of a similar nature.

Europeans and their descendants developed an ear for classical music and good old rock and roll, which precipitated their embrace of black metal and death metal.

Asians....well I think I've made enough sweeping generalizations for one post...

I would say that it's primarily derived from the blues and included some classical influences later on. Not to mention the obvous punk influence on thrash. It's not instinctual... it's cultural/societal.
