I heard that he does because many progressive bands use it. Well, if you ask me, that's not a reason to HATE it. I wonder if there's a better reason. I'm curious, because I love the sound of Moog and would like to hear it on some Opeth album.

Moog is a type of analog synthesiser. One of the first widley-used synths in the 70's. Common to the music of Yes, ELP, and Pink Floyd.

I'm not sure but I doubt that The Doors ever used any type of synths in their music. The only thing I ever heard on their stuff was a standard Hammond Organ and the occaisional piano. Amorphis uses Hammond on a few songs as well,("Crimson Wave" is a good example).
Most bands use the Moog because of its versitile waveform manipulation ability. One of the sounds on the newest Amorphis records that is probably a Moog would be the synth sound that starts off the song "Alone".

This is just a early example. In the late 70's and into the 80's, Moog also made single piece units as well. The company does still exist, btw.

Analog synths rule! Along with Moog's, there's nothing in the world quite like a Mellotron.. I'd like to hear that on an Opeth song sometime...
