What on earth...? Wintersun better than Ensiferum? Wintersun good? Do my eyes deceive me? That album is 6/10 material guys, suck it up. :tickled:

"Token of Time" and "Old Man" are all the evidence you need to learn the ways of Ensiferum. :kickass:

Disclaimer: I compare only to the Ensiferum debut.

Seriously.

As apparently the only person here who's heard all 3 albums in question (both Ensiferum and the Wintersun debut), Wintersun is clearly the 3rd-best of the 3.

Just got done spinning up Wintersun for the second time.

The production is almost too crisp (ala Fear Factory). The guitar playing is good, albeit without a shred of originality. The songs are OK, but completely unmemorable. I'd agree with JK's 6/10.

Okay I'm just being J.-harsh cuz it's funny, but this isn't very good either way. Perfectly bland.

After about 10 listens, I'm in the 7/10 camp, and I *LOVE* this kind of metal. If that tells you anything. Put it this way, I'm not going to buy it.

Alright, well it sure seemed that way based on what people were saying. Really, it's all personal tastes, but I can't fathom Wintersun > Ensiferum. Like, at all. Ever.

Ive listened to a ton of Wintersun in the past year, but no Ensiferum really. I should re-visit their album(s) and see what I think. Don't get me wrong, both bands rule... I'm just a bit rusty right now.

i have all three, and the ensferums are way better. basically, the wintersun dude left ensiferum to form and average band.

no not really, he got kicked out and still wanted to write songs.

that's not the way I understand it

Jari wanted to leave; perhaps he made that known behind the scenes quite a bit until they were so fed up they booted him, but I don't think they just fired him or anything

hmm, well my bro owns the 3 discs, and Wintersun is definitaly his second favorite.

Either way, splitting up didn't help either band. The fact is, I'm betting the Ensiferum debut is better than anything either band has done since.
