Actually that song reminds me a lot of Victorious MarchTrashhead said:A little Sidetrack, but doesn't it sound a lot like 'Gods of War' is Arson told from the attacker's perspective?
Its quite clear they do mean Gods Of War, I mean, all these guys are true Asatru followers - no doubt about their meaning.MountDoom said:Not really. In the song "Gods of War Arise", they talk about a sacrifice to the gods so they would grant them victory, meaning that they were Pagan (Not necesarily Asatru), and they spoke of burning a church on a Pyre, the church being either Catholic, Christian, or Jewish (I think.), because of the use of the word Church. To my knowledge, those religions are the only ones with "Churches". Meanwhile, the Asatru don't really have churches, only holy people named "Gothis". (Yet again, not certain.)
As for "Arson", the sequal to that song, "Once Sealed in Blood", shows that they are Pagan again (I swore before my gods| An oath once sealed in blood).
The 2 songs are very similar, however, the religions are the thing that set the stories apart, as well as the fact that the man in "Arson" was the only one that made it out alive, while in "Gods of War Arise", They took slaves.

It really, really does sound like Greeks. It just doesn't make sense though.
Only other suggestion I had on the song is that "Please set brother free" could also be "Please set Baldr free". Either one would make sense in the context of the song, and listening to it repeatedly, it could go either way IMO.
Our hearts are full of pounding rage
Our minds hard as steel
Right before the dying day
We will have you kneel
The snow turns red from all the blood
Severed limbs and heads
A sacrifice to one eyed God
He will claim the dead!
