next thing you'll announce is Grigg is joining Woods on 2nd guitar.

No such news. Bryan Belleau is committed to the cause on lead guitar and we currently have a great lineup! Though the schedule has been grueling, we had an awesome time playing the CHAOS metalfest this weekend, which was our first show with new bassist Shane Madden. Everyone was well prepared, we had lots of laughs during our travel time and the band was viciously entertaining on stage! We're considering show and tour offers for the rest of 2009 and 2010. We may even do ANOTHER album in Summer 2010 before our tour of the USA (now in the works...next July?). There will be LOTS of WoY yet to come! Everything has come together. It is only NOW, just beginning.

Studio Update: After a late night of drinking home-brew and watching stupid videos on Youtube, were back in the studio dark and surly, Tim Horton's in hand. Bass is now 2/3 done and sounding heavy! The songs sound great! More news soon!

^ I'm not entirely sure I've ever seen a drummer have as much fun as Y-Mad did in St. Thomas, lol. Every time I looked at him he had a huge grin on his face, it was awesome :kickass:

WOODS 4: The GREEN Album Studio Update...

This album has been weighing on my mind for over two years now, I haven't done ANYTHING else, haven't seen hardly anyone else in the last two months while obsessively finishing the writing of, working on pre-production and then the actual recording of the album. I now only have one FINAL day to go in the studio to belt out a few last vocal parts, record a couple very loud guitars and add a few last finishing touches. I am exhausted, but feeling very proud and satisfied with the results. So tired, I feel I could sleep for 100 years, or get out there and celebrate the end of this process. Either way, I hurt and I am happy. My body hums with both pain and happiness. Thus is massive catharsis. I can't wait for the world to hear this album! The first four songs alone will CRUSH!

Only one more day... and then a new, huge, WOODS OF YPRES album is done!

Thank you for all your support through the years leading up to this very rainy summer. Here's to tomorrow!

Taking the last dinner break, enjoying the first beer in a long time...soon we will begin the last shift in the studio. We will finish the album, tonight. I hope to be done by 11 pm. :)

Then, I am Toronto bound tomorrow, to see friends and go on a well deserved bender for a few days. :kickass:

I gotta get out of here..."I'm dyin' in this fuckin' country-ass fucked up town".

I dislike of most people's overuse of the word 'amazing', but amazingly, the new WOODS OF YPRES album, "Woods 4: The GREEN Album" is DONE!

...I can hardly believe it. Everything I do for the next week or so will be done in total celebratory fashion. I will eat good food, drink expensive beer, buy a $5 coffee, relax, have fun and laugh my balls off, etc... It's finally time to live a little.

Wait 'till you hear this fuckin' album! :kickass:

Awesome! You deserve it! That took a hell of a long time, but it sounds like it went smoothly, which is kickass. Beer and coffee is the way to go, not necessarily in that order :kickass:

An ode to:

1. Soju?
2. Having an ajuma cut in the front of you while waiting in line?
3. Norae Bangs?
4. PC Bangs?
5. Lotteria?

etc?

Kidding...

Lots of stuff based around thoughts and experiences during my year in exile... You'll see. I think it was very tastefully done. It's very heavy and DARK, but not without class. There's even a little humour (though, very little).

I think, if you liked the 'spirit' of "Woods 2: Pursuit of the Sun & Allure of the Earth", you might just REALLY like this.

I can't wait to get it out! ...and move on with my life. :ill: :)

I'd always start a night with Soju, and have it with dinner (Samgyupsal) but then always move on to CASS (beer), which was always dirty, but delicious. If I could buy CASS here, I would!

I never ended up eating at Lotteria (Korean version of McDonald's, even thought they do have actual McDonald's). I wanted to. It always looked appetizing. I probably considered it 100 times. I wanted to eat the (what I'm pretty sure was) fried chicken with rice crispies baked in the batter... But when I talked to anyone who had eaten there, it came highly un-recommended. So, having avoided it, I guess I had one less stomach problem.

There is a song, track #7, called 'Wet Leather' which is totally inspired by drinking and being drunk in downtown Seoul, on a downer. It's very SENTENCED sounding, but it's also one of the results of me listening to the band THE MAGNETIC FIELDS...a lot. A morbidly dark, ironic hard rock tune, if you will. Uplifting music with depressing, sobering sentiments.

Soon! :kickass:

Hey David,

A simple question:
Is there going to be coverart for Woods IV or are you going to use the big green square with text like in your startpost?

The 'real' art is being designed, though it may not be revealed until the album is released. The big green square was just created to hold us over until the actual cover could be made. It's a great feeling to get working on the package design of an album after the REAL "work" (the writing and recording of the music) is done! It allows a little more focus, a little less distraction.

This is an exciting time!!!! :)

SOON! :kickass:

I'm now in Toronto, celebrating the completion of WOODS OF YPRES - "The GREEN Album": Day Three. Vital Stats are as follows -- Voice: 10%, Batteries: 60%, Hangover: 70%, Sobriety: 100%, Coffee intake: Maximum Capacity, Mood: Great! \w/

Hey DG, I still need to pre-order, mainly due to the fact that I'm a lazy SOB! Am I still going to the same address? Or am I addressing to "Necro-Cabin In The North, David Gold"? :p
