at least not concerning this. it all depends on where old turns new in terms of dt chronology, but i don't like character and fiction quite as much as the earlier ones (excluding skydancer). it's a close call, though.

unfortunately not, but mostly because i've discovered so much more music.

not really. i wasn't there when the change took place so the current line-up is sort of the "correct" one for me.

Are you joking? How can someone not like DT lyrics? I have a thousand favorites here, but three off the top of my head would be: again Shadow Duet (ok, I'm boring), Final Resistance, Alone. But really, anything goes.

I like older stuff the best, but I think it's me, not the songs. I find that it happens also with the other bands I like: there's more attachment toward the material recorded when I was growing up. And anyway, while I don't really care for Character, I am quite into Fiction, so there.

What do you mean by interested? If you mean fanboyism, it's interesting how it never happened to me with respect to DT, not even when I was a teen. So I've never followed their every move obsessively. But well, last year I met someone really important, and after a while I suggested he'd buy Skydancer. This is the same exact thing that I would have done thirteen years ago, which means that my level of interest didn't falter.

I met them just once, not enough information to answer.

Haven, no doubt. And maybe Damage Done.

Since I bought Skydancer in January, 1994. Previously I had heard the Trail of Life Decayed demo in 1993 [and hyena had as well], but that was not on purpose so I guess it doesn't count.

I did like the demo when I heard it, and I absolutely loved Skydancer. A more accurate reply is probably Shadow Duet. That song made me a DT fan until the end of time.

I prefer some of the older stuff, but I reckon nostalgia and sentimental reasons have a great part in this choice: the newer stuff is not, by any means, worse.

I don't think I'm as interested in music as I was three years ago. It seems to me how passionate you are towards music is a measure of a number of factors, including your personal situation and how much time you have to indulge to the kind of mood that some music tends to put you in. Maybe at some point in the future I'll feel music as a matter of life and death again, but right now most of my habits and hobbies are a little more relaxed, since I'm focusing a lot of energy on my job and what some would call "settling down".

Elitism is gay. Well, Fiction was a total disappointment for me, and, while I liked Character, it didn't click as well as the past ones. I absolutely love everything from The Mind's I to Damage Done. I enjoy The Gallery too, just not as much as the ones I mentioned; and Skydancer bores me.

I don't listen to DT as much as I used to, maybe because I've listened to it a bazillion times already, and besides the newer stuff hasn't done much for me. However, I do listen to the old favorites from time to time, and DT remains as one of my all-times faves.

Back then I used to have friends who regularly got tapes of "extreme" metal demos (from local magazines who in turn would get them from the label, I guess). Somehow most of those tapes were handed to me at some point and I dutifully listened to everything and copied what I liked. The quality was far less than stellar but the original demos were really poor anyway, and my tolerance for terrible sounds was a lot higher than it is today. One of those tapes had the Trail of Life Decayed demo on it (though that was misspelled, as well ) and I noticed how it stood out from the bunch of other demos and ep's on the tape (which included Righteous Pigs and Disharmonic Orchestra, just to give you an idea).

I remembered liking it long enough to notice when a record store in the commercial area of town started offering Skydancer in the metal section, so I bought it. However, it wasn't until 1996 that I actually got in touch with the band.

As for hyena, I suppose I gave her the tape. We were in school together at the time and we hardly had anything better to do.

04 Since when have you been listening to DT? Since Character came out, but since I found out about it through a friend I didn't get it until March, and it was a burnt copy (I have since purchased it). I was 16 at the time.
05 Which is the first song you heard from DT? The New Build. In retrospect, that is kind of funny to me.
06 Which is the first song that made you absolutely amazed with DT and made you want to listen to all their stuff? Frankly, for me, it wasn't a song. Though some songs on Character stick out to me a bit more that others, that whole album is what did me in. I've been hooked ever since, and I love the entire catalog.

07 What are your two favorite albums from DT? Haven first, then it varies on my mood at the time. Out of the older albums it has to be The Gallery, and I prefer Fiction to Character or Damage Done.

I think they can be (intentionally) a little too obscured, but I don't mind putting thought into it. Lethe is my favorite song based purely on lyrics, but I also like Fabric, Icipher, and Hours Passed in Exile for lyrical reasons as well.

I like the vocals and I like the variation, and I liked that they stopped for a couple albums until it fell out of favor again. He's a good clean singer, getting better as the years progress it seems, so I hope it continues.
21 Do you think Michael has any influence on DT music? Yes, its a band. This isn't like Lamb of God (and I watched a making-of-the-album that proved this some time ago), where only two members compose the entirety of the music, it gets recorded and then the lead singer (or in this case, bassist) hops in, records the tracks, and then leaves. The creative process may not be distributed evenly, but it is still distributed.

I had fairly popular writers reply to me in more than one occasion, for instance, and I'm not sure the rate of success today would be nearly as high. Well, and of course the guys in DT are formidable human beings.

That's quite true. Most band sites don't even provide the e-mails of the members. This month had been awesome, I got replies both from Sundin and Anders Bjorler (on their site and individually). Pretty much asked them all what was on my mind.

Since I bought Skydancer in January, 1994. Previously I had heard the Trail of Life Decayed demo in 1993 [and hyena had as well], but that was not on purpose so I guess it doesn't count.

I think my first time was indeed in late 1996, but I was already in touch with Niklas through the Internet.

I'm so jealous. The only thing that consoles me is that... is that... well, i'm younger.
