But look: in the second photo she backs away and it's much brighter. Also has her hair different and her head at a different (and sexier) angle. The make-up makes a huge difference, but the way they did the photo does too.

She's farther away (so minor blemishes don't show as much) and she has her head at an angle. Seeing someone's face staring into the camera as in the first pic is really unattractive no matter what they look like. She also has her hair done nicely rather than pulled back.
