Let's take a look back at 2013, and share your high hopes/expectations for next year as well.

First, what are your favourite albums of 2013?
Second, which album unfortunately did not meet your expectations?
Third, what are the albums you are looking forward to the most in 2014?

P.s. Here's a big list of albums that will be released in 2014 (although not complete of course):
http://www.metalstorm.net/events/new_releases.php?upcoming=1

I've made a Top10 list of my favorite albums:

1. Ayreon - The Theory Of Everything
2. Haken - The Mountain
3. Pretty Maids - Motherland
4. Subsignal - Paraiso
5. The Winery Dogs
6. Sound Of Contact - Dimensionaut
7. Spock's Beard - Brief Nocturnes and Dreamless Sleep
8. Clive Nolan - Alchemy
9. Alter Bridge - Fortress
10. Stone Sour - House Of Gold & Bones Part 2

But it was so hard this year, maybe I should've done a Top20 and also add the new albums of Dream Theater, ReVamp, The Flower Kings, Avantasia, Leprous, Hardcore Superstar, Buckcherry, Stratovarius, Eden's Curse & James LaBrie.

Not sure if I had any disappointments... maybe I had hoped for a bit more out of the Dream Theater album and I gotta admit that the new self-titled Queensryche album didn't make it near my Top10 list even that I think the changes they made are more than fine.

Which albums do I look forward to most? The new Seventh Wonder album hopefully! Don't need much aside from that. ;)

But I do look forward to get the new 'Frequency Drift' album, that's for sure. Also the new albums of Brother Firetribe, Transatlantic, Pain Of Salvation, Bigelf, Crippled Black Phoenix, Magnum and I'm sure lots more.

On a festival/concert note I would love to have Seventh Wonder at Sweden Rock Festival. That would be like the icing on the cake. :)

I could change my opinion in the next months but by now:

PROTEST THE HERO - VOLITION

Favorite albums of 2013 (not all metal):
Ayreon - Theory of Everything
Depeche Mode - Delta Machine
Front Line Assembly - Echogenetic
Mesh - Automation Baby
Nine Inch Nails - Hesitation Marks
Pet Shop Boys - Electric
ReVamp - Wild Card

I still haven't listened to this year's Avantasia, Leaves' Eyes, and Dream Theater albums, but I do intend to!

For 2014, I'm looking forward to Within Temptation's Hydra, the new Adrenaline Mob and Devin Townsend's Casualties of Cool. If 2014 brought a new SW album that would be MINT.

2013 was a bad year for me regarding prog metal, 2014 should be a good one.

I'm looking forward to the new SW if that happens and the new Distorted Harmony. They are great prog rock/metal, check them out!

Distorted Harmony are great, I have "Utopia" and look forward to their upcoming release. Other releases I look forward to (hopefully) this year....
