unfortunately there's even more woodwind noodling (which was always one of the worse elements of Pagan Reign to me).
the main difference is male (and female) operatic vocals, instead of BM vox.

that's like considering Slayer or Xasthur Death Metal 'because they have awesome lyrics about death'--merely talking in a song about the same thing which is a word for a genre does not put you in that genre.

Equilibrium shouldn't really be considered viking metal, just like Turisas shouldn't. They don't sound like traditional viking metal at all, nor do they contain very many folk elements (other than a synthesized flute here and there).

That said, it doesn't change the fact that they really are quite good, and some songs from Sagas are incredibly epic.
