Dream Theater - Octavarium
Wonderful slab of progressive goodness, and maybe my favorite album by DT. More effortlessly epic than 95% of orchestral scores

Eluveitie - Evocation I - The Arcane Dominion
Regular folk metal is on and off for me, but this all-acoustic folk experiment is just wonderful. Please, Eluveitie, release more chapters of Evocation, assuming that translates into "wonderful and joyous acoustic folk metal bliss".

Eluveitie - Everything Remains As It Never Was
Their more recent 2010 album... Back to their folk/melodic death metal sound, full on with electric instruments and throaty barks. It's good, but nothing special.

Into Eternity - The Scattering Of Ashes
Need to give this one more listens, but it's solid so far.

Porcupine Tree - Stupid Dream
Not metal, but considering Wilson's relationship with other prog beasts like Opeth and Dream Theater, I'm mentioning this anyways. While I don't regret not getting into them earlier (I was too lost in Opeth's body of work and obsessed with exploring it all), I am so happy I put them on my never ending "bands to check out" list. This is one of the best progressive rock albums I've heard in a while, and the flute/saxophone solos in Don't Hate Me blew my mind. Hate you? No no no, Steven Wilson, I love you.
