Hell no. Arghoslent are one of the best metal bands around, both musically and lyrically.

Yes because:

"Above the steaming jungle
Lies snowy heights of honor
Foundations of empire are laid
On sweating backs of my pals slaves"

Is a perfect example of 'great' lyrics.
But at least the music is worthwhile.

Just imagine a band calling Odin a wuss, suggesting that everyone should be a gay Christian, and demanding that all guns be destroyed and heathens put to death.

I enjoy the passion that hate-filled music has. Such a strong emotion but I don't agree with racist views - and unless it directly offends me, I probably won't avoid it. Anti-christian or anti-religious lyrics are a-ok with me.

The only lyrical 'turn-offs' with me are lyrics that are very immature or lame. For example lyrics regarding porn I find are just stupid and have no depth or passion to them.

Lyrically, the main thing in metal I avoid is Christ worship. It personally offends me.

Ildjarn = the aural equivalent of hatred.

Actually I forgot to mention that (not in a narrowminded way) but I will not support any Christian music or anything lyrically pro-God/Jesus etc. I don't mind if a band like say Deicide had one member who was, but if the band's message overall is that, then I will not listen to them, period.

Personally I don't care if a band is Christian, Satanic, Atheist, Racist, violent, whatever. If I like the music I will listen to it. I'm mature enough to enjoy the music without having to consent to whatever ideology the band is pusing. And aside from a few Christian metal bands I love lots of Christian music (i.e. Gregorian Chant; Bach, Mozart, Gorecki, Part, etc.).

Well, I am not by any means a prejudice person but I just don't care to support bands who share those views that I strongly disagree with. I'm not saying the music is bad, I'm sure many bands are good, but I just don't care for it. The chances of me doing otherwise is about as likely as a black family putting aside their differences and attending a KKK meeting. I am very much an anti-religious person.

Frankly I'm more anti-racist then I am anti-christian... so if I can tolerate some racist metal bands I can certainly listen to some Christian ones. Saviour Machine  .

For me it's about honest expression through music. I find the racism disgusting, being a person of colour myself, but, in the case of say, Hate Forest, the honesty of expression is there one hundred percent, the music doesn't suffer at all from being "nice".

I personally that extremism of various forms, in various art mediums is what drives art itself.

:kickass: Cant' get enough of that lately

Agreed on everythang.

I don't get offended by lyrics I don't agree with if the music is good. That said I can't think of any racist bands that I listen to. That would be the only subject matter that would potentially bother me.

True. Who really cares about the lyrics anyway. Whether it is Satan, Vikings, Dragons, Pro-Nazi, etc., it doesn't matter so long as the music is good.

Though of course, I do like to check out the lyrics of concept albums.

well... generally i don't pay attention to lyrics (unless its doom metal).

also, it's not that i am so offended that i don't listen to the band anymore, so much as... *thinks*

okay. prejudiced or racist lyrics are usually part of a political ideal, or some political theory (unless it's just hype for shock-effect). and i don't like propaganda in any form (lyrical, musical, visual...etc etc) but because it annoys me rather than upsets me. kinda like a mcdonalds happy meal. u'know there is no "free toy", you pay a dollar or so, for it. if u're an adult buying it for yourself sometimes they ask u do u want the gift with it (haha) cus it costs extra. but most people don't realise that and most people pay for something they don't want/didn't ask for. this is how i feel about any art-work with any message that is meant to "enlighten the masses". the message, or whatever effect the "artist" hoped to be invoked in the audience, overshadows the vehicle and everything else (in this case music)... atleast thats the case for me. so since i don't enjoy the music... mehh. don't listen to it.

anyways that my two cents. yes i eat happy meals too. they fill me up :P

p.s: that being said. there are a few... urmm... politically inclined or socially-centred bands that i listen to but totally don't agree with. but it's such great music, it's easy to ignore the lyrics. they are an exception, however.

I find it funny - that people can listen to all of these Anti-Christian bands, and yet racism bothers them :\

Someone once brought up the point that people choose to be Christian, not their race - but in a way I disagree because people don't choose what they believe in - they just do. Sure beliefs can change and all - but that doesn't make them any less of an intrinsic thing that a person doesn't choose.

Hating someone for what they believe is perhaps just as bad as hating someone for their race in the grand scheme of things - yet I won't look down upon one for either, as that hate is just another belief - and to a greater extent a vital part of the human-"self", and emotion that is the most pure of all human emotions, and who am I to condemn the workings of the human mind?
