Your top 10 Black Metal albums

OK, not easy....this changes a lot. Today I'd mention the following, in no specific order:

Darkthrone - Hate Them *
Blut Aus Nord - TWWTG
Nagelfar - Hunengrab Im Herbst
Mercyful Fate - Melissa
Immortal - At the Heart of Winter
Grand Belial's Key - Mocking the Philantropist
Burzum - Hvis lyset tar oss
Drudkh - Forgotten Legends
Marduk - Plague Angel *
Dissection - Storm of the Light's Bane

* Yes, I really love those albums.

Also Frost by Enslaved. I can't express how much I love the song Loke in words, so just re-listen to it. Could someone please explain the hate placed upon this album, please?

Hmmm, yeah, it doesn't seem to be very well-liked. I like it. I think it's Enslaved's second best album. For a while it was my favorite, actually. People are retards.

Wrong. Stop trying to define black metal based on the SECOND WAVE. There was a FIRST WAVE and that included Mercyful Fate.

:worship:

Fucking hate cliches, but here it goes:

1. Emperor - In The Nightside Eclipse
2. Bathory - Blood Fire Death
3. Immortal- At the Heart of Winter
4. Dissection - Storm of the Light's Bane
5. Windir - 1184
6. Mayhem - De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas
7. Darkthrone - Transilvanian Hunger
8. Marduk - Plague Angel
9. Behemoth - Grom
10. Keep of Kalessin - Reclaim EP

More second wave then what I expected. Not good.

A lot of great lists on this thread. It's hard doing these type of lists since there is a vast variety of good black metal around both new and old. Mine in no particular order:

Mayhemic Truth - In Memoriam
Morrigan - Celts
Leviathan - Intolerance (XI)
Lurker of Chalice - s/t
Taake - Nattestid Ser Porten Vid
Belenos - Spicilège
Wolok - Universal Void
Wolves in the Throne Room - Diadem of 12 Stars
Alcest - Le Secret
Blut aus Nord - Ultima Thulée

Slayer - Reign in Blood
Sodom - In the Sign of Evil

Exodus - Bonded By Blood

I love Bonded by Blood. A Lesson in Violence is a killer tune and live it was even better(well that sorta gives away my age a bit). Though, I would not classify Exodus as black metal since they are through and through thrash metal.

Black magic rites on this black evil night
Begin with the slice of the blade
Metal and blood come together as one
Onlookers they gasp in dismay
Taste the sweet blood of one another
Sharing without any greed

The filthy sound of death and pain
Brings pleasure that I need
The rotting hide the burning flesh
The smell and I agree
Bloody corpse makes me feel great
Painkiller in my life
Cut bare flesh to the bone
Use a rusty knife

Incubus in the sky
Pentagram held high
Hell's filth hounds begin to bark
The bells begin to tone
Virgin lies in blood
The blood was once her own
The redness and the horror of blood
Swept across the land I stood

As black metal as Mercyful Fate or Venom.

No. Exodus is not and never was black metal. I don't know if you're seriously this dense or maybe you just discovered metal like 2 years ago or something.

I really tried to make a list with the albums in order of quality. Silly, and really doesn't mean much, but fun.

3. Emperor - In The Nightside Eclipse
4. Sorcier Des Glaces - Snowland
5. Darkthrone - Under A Funeral Moon
6. Ved Buens Ende - Written In Waters
7. Immortal - Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism
8. Nåstrond - Toteslaut
9. Graveland - Thousand Swords
10. Grotesque - In The Embrace Of Evil

8. "Addicts: Black Meddle Part 2" ~ Nachtmystium
9. "Scenes from Hell" ~ Sigh
10. "Erotik" ~ Lifelover

WTF I just noticed I completely missed Arckanum on my list; so, remove the two ...aO albums and put Kostogher and Fran Marder in their place.

Also, Lifelover is fucking terrible.
