The fact that so many people believe this is, in a way, one of the many things wrong with metalhead (and music fan in general) culture :erk:

I tend to agree with you, though I guess it depends on your definition of *worthy*.

If I were to pick from my list those bands that have 5 albums that stand the test of time, there would be Iron Maiden, Metallica, Ihsahn and Porcupine Tree. Though I'm fairly picky with my music too.

I've found most established bands have 2-3 top albums at best, it's hard to keep the quality and originality in their work to get 5 great albums.

The fact that so many people believe this is, in a way, one of the many things wrong with metalhead (and music fan in general) culture :erk:

lol, what does that have to do with "metalhead culture"? I mean, I suppose metal fans tend to be more completionist and album-worshiping than those of many other genres, but I don't see how that's a problem. If it's the "worthwhile" aspect, it's not like there's any shortage of short-lived and widely-heralded bands as well.

I feel like I'm the only person who finds this to easily be their worst album. It isn't bad in any way, but is just easily their weakest. Far too vocal-centric which considering Nemtheanga is something I would have expected to be a good thing, but it just doesn't have the same "journey" like feel to it.

I mean, I get it. The album sometimes has a lot of building up but no POW at the end, with the exception a few songs like Empire Falls. Not only are his vocals amazing but the lyrics really stand out here. It sounds silly, but I like the repetitiveness of this album in contrast with his passionate vocals-- it just does something. It's definitely one of those albums you put on when you have a lot on your mind, and just want to think. To be honest, it was hard choosing To the Nameless Dead over The Gathering Wilderness, but at the time was thinking about which one gets more spins and why, though "The Coffin Ships" has to be the best Primordial song.

What the hell are you talking about? Are you insulting me because I give metal bands too much credit or that I think you need at least five good albums to be worthy? I'm not sure but either way it sounds like your being an elitist, but forgive me if I'm wrong.
