Martyrs is brilliant, it took me like 15 minutes after the movie was finished to actually absorb the whole thing and get it, it haunts me ever since.

you're insane. I'm all for gore (not one where tons of animals were brutally murdered on screen, and it's all real), but Martyrs is an actual movie, with an awesome an original plot apart from the madness and gore, you can't compare it to a normal "slasher" or horror film.

Moon is seriously underappreciated; excellent pick. And the Clooney remake of Solaris, or the Russian original? I actually really like the old one, although some of the weirdness (the 10-minute car ride with loud noises for no reason) can get annoying.

Moon is awesome. Just watched it on a whim one day and it blew me away.
I guess the Stalker reference threw ya off?
The Clooney one is what i meant. Yeah, I know, it's cheesy but I really like it. The soundtrack is one of the best OST's ever made imo. I never was able to get through the Russian version, it seemed to focus more on the research/politics of the situation rather than the guy's journey, at least what I saw of it. Stalker though, that is my favorite Tarkovsky movie by far.

Serenity and Blade Runner are very great choices, but I'm unsure if they make my top 5. If we were to do my tops by decade they very may well make the lists for the decades they were released in.

Honestly they're not actually my top 5 since I don't really think about a top 5 anything much, except maybe guitar players. Those are just the movies I could drum out of memory without actually looking at my collection.
