Youtube thread

how awesome is this ...

I actually shared this in the movie thread before, I love it. Really cool how he makes VHS copies of movies released in the DVD era!

Edit: I saw on his Instagram the other day that he custom made the Nolan Batman trilogy into a VHS set which is cool (leaving aside that Begins was on VHS already).

About 5 years ago I got rid of over a hundred and fifty ex-rental videos because no one wanted them. I asked Op Shops, second hand shops, I even asked the local film buff who runs movie nights in a home based cinema running all the old U-matic gear we sold him and I could not find a single person who wanted them. I kept some of them, mostly old music ones but even thinking about connecting any of the old recording gear up is too much effort these days.

Kinda funny because all the movie groups I'm joined to on Facebook have people selling VHS tapes and doing swaps and shit. Some guy sold a VHS tape for like $100 the other day, forget what it was.

Technically I couldn't have sold them given the agreement we got them under, although Blockbuster probably wouldn't be interested in chasing me now days, but I just wanted to get rid of them. I've still got a couple of VHS recorders and an editing desk in storage but it's just too much effort to do anything with. One day I'll off load the entire kit to a film buff of some sort.

Maybe these also would have fit in the "Cover versions"-topic, though the vocals are still the original ones:

Essentially they're the same, just that Dr. Feelz throws more money at his exploited guests. I mean, I think at least that Bum Fights guy is self-aware and that's why he went dressed as Dr. Phil himself lmao. I think he was kinda trying to hold a mirror to his old ass, but he got triggered (so fake) and kicked him off for virtue points.

I've never actually watched a Bum Fights video, seemed way too messed up.
