Youtube thread

That was fucking funny, that game looks awesome. One of those games that you just lose days playing and by the end you don't really know what you were even doing for so long.

That describes it well. I'd recommend it but set aside a few days or a week when you do start on it. My winter break last year was beating all versions of Bridge Constructor, Infinifactory, and Overwatch with friends. Somewhat regrettable though, this summer I'm making an effort to spend as much time as I can working out and doing things outside the house. Lots of concerts.

Yeah, well at least winter is the time for hibernation, I've been spending this winter (currently winter here) playing a lot of video games, catching up on the retarded amount of games I've purchased in Steam sales and not played yet.

By the way, I just posted a shitload in the Metal 2017 thread and there were a few progressive/technical metal albums and some thrash that maybe you might dig.

comment section is gold...
"it's crazy how the hyenas are not afraid of seven or eight females but they all run when they see one male"

"Because they are sexist bitches; every expert knows that a strong independent lioness can do anything a male lion can do."

I'm a huge rollercoaster enthusiast and watching YouTube videos of some coaster I really want to ride.

El Toro

Maverick (I wish they'd left in the Heartline roll, looked intense as fuck)

Fury 325 (My god, that first drop looks insane)

Tatsu (I've ridden Manta in Florida which is similar, but everything about this is just bigger. The Pretzel loop (1:31) was one of the most intense things I've ever experienced and Tatsu's looks more insane)

X2 (not many good videos of this due to the way the seats spin)

Kingda Ka (Looks absolutely terrifying. 0-128 mph in 3 seconds, 456 ft drop? Sign me up!)

The only ride in the UK that can really compete with these is Nemesis at Alton Towers (genius track design and themeing). Oblivion at Alton Towers when it was first released was the first vertical drop coaster but it has since been surpassed by coasters that have a vertical drop that is 3 times bigger).

@Phylactery have you played Planet Coaster? It's a theme park management game with a large emphasis on designing rollercoaster rides. It seems pretty well received among people who are into that genre.

Rollercoasters are metal as fuck as well. I've loved them since I was about 12. Everything about them: the anticipation, the queue (if it's a well done one), the theming (this is so important for a ride to be truly great imo), the backstory and of course the track layout and its different elements. Favourite elements are: zero g-rolls, batwings, pretzel loops, vertical loops, air-time hills and vertical drops.

The theming of Nemesis and its track layout is what makes it truly great - rivers of blood flow under your feet as you dip and drive through the quarry that it's set in. It also has a really intense corkscrew into a downward helix that just gives you such a rush. The Montu at Busch Gardens in Florida is my favourite coaster I've ever ridden. Similar to Nemesis it has amazing theming, this time set in Egyptian ruins and you dip and dive through the trenches of the terrain. You truly feel like the legendary falcon from its namesake stalking its pray as you traverse its 7 amazing inversions.

No, I haven't played that game. I played Rollercoaster Tycoon back in the day if I remember. I'll have to look into that one!

designing rides was actually the one thing that sucked about rollercoaster tycoon iirc, the people in that game were pussies (like me). i do love it though. i used to play theme park world as well.

fuck rides though, no offense. i am not wired to enjoy those things. which is a shame as i only live probably 20 minutes from alton towers.

Have you ever actually tried one? I have 3 friends who were afraid of them and vowed to never ride them. They have now ridden nearly every coaster in Florida and they love them.

This is the only one that two of them refused to go on:

But I can forgive them for that, at a well over 200 foot vertical drop it looks intimidating, and they hang you at the top for quite a while!

I don't live too far from Alton Towers myself, about 40-50 minutes. Usually go once a year. The queues get ridiculous in summer is the only problem.

the other problem is GETTING YOUR LEGS CRUSHED

the gold mine at blackpool was about as intense as i could stomach as a kid haha. haven't tried any as an adult though in fairness.
