War for Territory
The year's end is drawing closer, quicker than I expected, so I thought it'd be good to have a thread about this year's releases. There probably already has been a couple, but I don't remember much, nor am I able to search, so this will have to do. So I dunno... list your favourite albums of the year, mention albums you're still waiting for with high expectations, whatever else you can think of.

Best so far:

1. Primordial - The Gathering Wilderness
2. Slough Feg - Atavism
3. Witchcraft - Firewood
4. Pelican - The Fire in Our Throats Beckons the Thaw
5. Rudra - Brahmavidya: Primordial I

Biggest disapointments:

Drudkh - Swan Road (kinda)
Opeth - Ghost Reveries (not that I expected much)
Wyrd - Rota (simply sucks)

Still looking forward to:

Summoning
Arghoslent
Sunn O)))
Woods of Ypres
Bunch of Aussie hordes (Grenade, Carbon, Portal, Misery's Omen, Gospel of the Horns, Urgrund, Psycroptic)

1. Nile - Annihilation of the Wicked
2. Scar Symmetry - Symmetric in Design
3. Sentenced - The Funeral Album
4. Nevermore - This Godless Endeavor
5. Enslaved - Isa (so sue me...this album owns)

most disappointing:
1. Cephalic Carnage - Anomalies
2. Immolation - Harnessing Ruin

ya this was really poor wasnt it?

i got it for free from the end and im thinking i might have paid too much :erk:

I got it for free too (I won this contest at metal-observer). yeah, I had really high expectations for it, and they were obliterated. I had to force myself to listen past track one while reaching for my dictionary.

So far the albums I have really loved this year are...
Aarni- Bathos
Opeth- The Ghost Reveries
Deathspell Omega- Kenose

Some other quality recordings...
Enslaved- Isa
Blut Aus Nord/Reverence Split
Drudkh- The Swan Road
Monolithe- Monolithe II (really need to listen to this more)
Hate Forest- Sorrow

Still need to hear the new Pelican, the new Nile and probably a few others, but on the whole last year was better, this year is solid I guess...

New Gorguts? Tell me more.
There's not a single chance to hear a new Gorguts this year or ever as a matter of fact. I'm a huge fan and I learned from a guy that works for Profusion Direct and he told me that Lemay disbanded Gorguts in november 2004.
He's now working on something called Negativa along with Steeve Hurdle (the maniac behind Obscura) and Dominic "Forrest" Lapointe from Augury/Atheretic/Quo Vadis (live). It's supposed to be somewhat like Obscura, but more extreme !!
