2013 NHL Thread

@Frostbone I'd consider Pietrangelo a star player.

Don't get me wrong I consider him a star too, my point is that they do not have any who are close to win the goal or point scoring they're around 60 points and do not have any Ovechkin, Crosby, Stamkos, Tavares and so on who carries the team. They all put a good performance and are a good team.

Yeah Blues are a great team, probably have the best overall roster in the NHL, just can't seem to make it past the Kings in the playoffs

You can't expect Steen to keep this pace, and Roy doing so well on the 3rd line too, Halak is already putting up marginal #'s in the net so hopefully they make the big trade for Miller and you guys make a deep run to the playoffs

What are you talking about? Halak has been playing like a #1 goalie. His goals against is 2.16, Those are #1 goalie stats although maybe his save % is at .917, it doesn't mean much, if the Blues aren't letting alot of shots go through.

The Blues do not need Miller.

STL has been looking for a solid #1 goalie for years, that is why Halak is not locked up long term and why their GM has talked to ours for Miller, and most see last playoff exit last year as their fault in net to why they couldn't get past the Kings

Agreed. They have some guys with PPG potential, but none of them have reached that level yet.

Oh, forgot to mention that I saw a guy in a Watain sweater at the Yotes game. Not my favorite band, but still cool to see.

Crazy to hear about Varlamov.

Steve Downie to Philly for Max Talbot. Emelin re-ups with Montreal (I didn't know Emelin was worth 4.1M!).

Yeah I was surprised when I read about it. And that he also might get 2-6 years time in prison. I wonder what Colorado will do with the empty goalie spot...

I actually think that Colorado might have won a little bit in that trade. Talbot's experience might be good for them.

I like it a lot more for the Flyers. Downie's a real good player who can do a little of everything, and he was playing well on the Avs' top line with Duchene and ROR. The Avs already had a long jam at Center, and then they go trade a top 6 winger for a 4th line center. Makes no sense.

He's an extremely underrated D-Man, a Late Bloomer (even though it took years for him to finally come to Montreal). The guy has a sound defensive game. Hard Hitter, Knows how to chip in offensively if the opportunity presents itself, he may not put up big points, but he is everything you want for a D-Man, he's really deserving for that type of money.

I don't know how it's going to go, but Bergevin has a busy Summer coming up, 2 of our 8 D-Men are under contract for next year, leaving 6 others to deal with. Subban is bound to get a huge salary upgrade. This is going to be a real first big test to see how Bergevin can manage things, and I am really looking forward to see how it'll work out in the end.

Maybe so, but keep in mind Halak has been plagued by injuries since he arrived in St. Louis. If he can stay injury free through the season, and have an amazing playoff run like he did with Montreal that got them to the conference finals, they've found their goalie, he also needs a second season of success thereafter.

You underestimate Max Talbot my friend, I'd want a guy like that on my team. A Total team player and he can play any role.

They probably got Talbot because they have to move ROR or Stastny, unless they both take a fat pay cut.

Apparently Enström has declined playing for Sweden in Sochi "to focus on the Jets", lol. Considering that the Jets probably won't even make the playoffs that's a strange thing to say.

He might not have made it regardless. He has to compete with Kronwall, Edler, OEL, Brodin, Hjalmarsson, Hedmen, etc. Sweden's Defense is a lot deeper this time around, even with the loss of Lidstrom.

What the fuck? "Focus on the Jets" yeah when there's no NHL games during that time... logic.
