Aye, if they'd have continued with the raw, abrasive production a la Macabre Transcendance it would have been a winner.

This is true. I spent a full day listening to Macabre Transcendence a couple of weeks after getting La Sanie des Siècles, and it just strikes me as being much more potent.

I thought it was good but nothing amazing. I liked their EP better actually.

I think I'll have to add Mirrorthrone to the top few along side Agalloch, Wolves, Drudkh, Isis, Ihsahn and Xasthur. After seeing it mentioned here I decided to check it out and I must say I am pretty impressed. Remindes me a lot of Prometheus which is one of my favourite albums so its right up my street.

When the new Shining album comes out I think that will get a place in the top as well. This year has been very impressive overall.
