Alexi Laiho vs Roope Latvala

Unplayable doesn't mean masterpiece. I can't play MA Batio songs, but I wouldn't call any of his songs a masterpiece.

Agree.
Considered we're talking about jari, let's listent to "Battle Song"[ensiferum first album].This song has no solo, but damn i can't stop listening to the chorus.
And furthermore alexi and jari have got different skills,so i say again:you can't say who's better.

Of course I wasn't saying Jari is bad, just that harder to play doesn't mean better. For the record Dragonforce is quite tricky to play (studio version, live fuckup version my little brother can play it), but is by no means better than Bodom or Stone or Wintersun.

You don't know Dragonforce?!? Herman Li? Listen to DF on YouTube. Valley of the damned is pretty cool. But it's a whole studio band. They can't play their stuff live.
But with Herman Li it's the same with Jari. The solos are fucking hard to play cause they're all at 500bpm or so but aren't as good as Laihos.

And no song of Wintersun is a masterpiece imo. They're just hard to play but I can't listen one of those songs over and over again. Necrophagist songs are also pretty hard to cover - more than most of COB's songs but all songs sound like each other. Nothing else matters is a fucking masterpiece. Pretty easy to play but musicaly totally genial.

What do you guys would say are masterpiece songs (except of Bodom)?
I would say: Nothing else matters, Fade to black (metallica), Stairway to heaven (LZ), The last remaining light (Audioslave), Killing me, killing you (Sentenced), I'm not dead (Pink), Love Hurts (Incubus), Hurt (Jhonny Cash), Right here in my arms (HIM), ah shit... too much to count

At no point did I say that the songs were a masterpeice as a result of being incredibly technical. They are just epic songs, everything about them is just perfect. There isn't one point in the album where I skip a song.

I can't see how anyone can really listen to Wintersun in its entirity and not be blown away.

Even if you strip away the music, lyrically and conceptually the Wintersun album is still incredible.

Dont say I'm comparing the difficulty of a song to how epic it is -_-'
I also didn't say Wintersun was better than Bodom, since Bodom are my favourite band and have been for 9 years solid.

I still accept the fact that Jari owns Allu&Roopert in terms of guitar playing ability.

Other Epic song = The Idol by WASP.

/rant

EDIT: And Jaris solos aren't only hard because they are fast, they are techincally hard, even played slowly and while I love KTS solos Wintersun solos are another league all together. Death and the Healing is fucking superb solo with emotion and speed.

Of course i know,i was just joking.
I Think Herman Li sucks and Herman's solos suck.
Why the fuck should you compose something you can't play live?Only to make pepole understand you're good?
Bha,i'd say him to slow down his solos, and start playing them live correctly...maybe someone will appreciate him.
Doing what he does is something everyone can do.Pathetic.

And btw,except bodom.....now i can't think to other songs...i agree with fade to black[best metallica's song imo]

 @ Arcane: Studioforce is commonly used to describe Dragonforce exactly for what you said, they're a studio band

About masterpieces, I'd say Sultains Of Swing (Dire Straits), Fear Of The Dark (Iron Maiden), Fire Your Guns (AC/DC), Violated (Sinergy), a fuckload of Death's songs (Chuck sucked as far as solos are concerned, but was awesome writing songs), Annihilation Of The Wicked (Nile), Whiplash (Metallica), At The Left Hand Of God (Behemoth)... and I could go on forever and also I'm sure many of you won't agree anyway

I've just read it and .... ahhh.... yeah I deserve that facepalm :)

Btw. I have some problems with Youtube... I've tried uploading KTS but after 1 or 2 minutes it always shows me an unknown error... Does anybody had the same problem before?

Yeah, happened to me too. KTS is just too godly to be uploaded on youtube; it would kill people. That's why everyone who covers that song has to upload a sloppy and/or low volume version.

Nooooo

I was just looking forward to seeing it:guh:

Actually, the last time i saw Dragonforce, they weren't that bad.
They only got the nickname Studioforce only because of their youtube videos.
I'm not saying they're CRAZYFUCKING GOOD, its just that you shouldn't judge a band's performance if you haven't seen them for yourself.

I also saw some vids of them performing live,so...obviously all is always a bit exaggerated but the issue doesn't change...

are you serious?:OMG:
Symbolic has one of the most badass solo's i've ever heard. His Pull The Plug solo isn't bad either. :kickass:

Well of course he had amazing chops, but most of his solos weren't that good actually. The songs were fucking amazing, but the solos themselves... somehow repetitive. I mean, there are Sinergy solos or Bodom solos or Vai solos or some solos that I can sing along and remember as well as the lyrics. With Chuck, I remember a ton of amazing riffs, but solos... not many.

I guess I can see what you mean. I'm still not a very big Vai fan. I can't seem to get into him:Smug: I don't hate the guy or anything, I'm just not interested in his music I guess. I like Paul Gilbert much better, but that's my opinion.

Here are mine:

This Godless Endeavor(Nevermore), Winter Madness(Wintersun), Miles of Machines(Loomis), The Imaginary Force(Bob Katsionis), Fury of the Storm(Dragonforce), Midnight Madness(Sinergy), Fusion Dragon Battle Theme(Golden Sun(lol)), Blitzkrieg(Yngwie), The Final Countdown(Bodom...I mean Europe:lol:), Toccata and Fugue(J.S. Bach)....etc.

Well, I can see that too. Vai can be too much sometimes, but he has some awesome songs and he's definitely a great showman live, plus he has epic faces  Although so does Paul, who is also an amazing teacher. I don't think I could choose between those two.
