Alexi's headbang

Alexi is my favorite guitarist but his headbang is so terrible. its the side to side thing he looks so bad Amon Amarth and Behemoth are the best hewadbangers IMO anyone else know any good headbangers or want to criticize Alexi?

Headbanging doesn't mean shit to me. When a whole band does the windmill kind of thing in sync with each other though, that's pretty fucking badass. I don't see how you can play and do that.

the side to side thing looks sweet with how long his hair is, but yeah the snychronized headbanging is awesome if done right,with bands like August Burns Red that do that great.

threadstarter: do you have long hair and play guitar? try headbanging (the windmill thing), I find it impossible to play and headbang at the same time no matter how I headbang. I also become really dizzy fast and just fall on floor .

haha if you do the windmill a lot you dont get dizzy anymore. I can play and do a windmill but only with easy stuff like amon amarth.

i can play and headbang easily just takes some getting used to. that said i cant solo and do it or anything just rhythm and simple lead parts (the part right after the intro of towards dead end)

I absolutely love that guy. I never get tired of his headbanging. The fact he's pretty much mastered 4-finger picking just adds to my respect for him.

I'm still no good at the windmill but I also haven't practiced it much. I get dizzy but I'll get used to it. It's so old school and looks amazing when an entire band does it in sync, like you said.

Beyond that, I don't care for Alexi's headbanging. I think one of the things that makes a headbang good is (go ahead and call it materialistic) great hair. Alexi doesn't have it. Used to, kind of. But now it's stringy, dry and looks like hell even for a sweaty, beat up, drunken metal guitar shredder. I think Roope still has amazing hair and he's been around a lot longer.
