now they can headline american and european tours and sell out shows he is at the top. back in 98 they probably had to work thier asses off to fill a venue and they had to play perfectly so that they could impress people. now that he's so big he probably feels he can just party it up and stop practicing because no one cares which is partly true because i have a feeling a lot of the new fans or mallgoths really don't either notice or care about how he's playing compared to the old days. its sad, but hopefully he'll realize why he dropped out of highschool and why he spent all that time practicing and try to master the guitar again.

I thought that no one was going to post anything decent, because this forum(not only this thread, the whole forum)seems more an against-Children Of Bodom forum than a Children Of Bodom fans forum. Why the 99'9% of people of this thread spends the day criticising Alexi or COB?If you don't like them, then leave the forum,it's easier and you won't have to spend your time posting about something that you don't like;and if you like it,don't spend every moment criticising it.

Completely agree with you,Enemy242.

we would leave if the band would be hopeless case.
but people find it hard to believe in that, after this band was at the top of monstrosity and now days they are what they are... crap...
people find hard to accept it, it just doesn't make sense

the whole bashing is done with hope to wake the band/alexi up and bring their asses back to what they used to be

Probably cuz he knows he doesn't have to impress anyone anymore.

when he did?

Obviously before you get to know the band.

Anyway, on the topic.. I pretty much agree with Enemy but I don't think his skill decreased much. Anyone else noticed that they play 150 shows a year these days? I can imagine that's no walk in a park. Maybe he just doesn't care so much about nailing each of those several thousands of solos a year 1:1. Yes, the Nosturi show is sloppy but it's a really awful show on COB standards - it doesn't really represent their live playing these days. The DVD show was much better.

Having seen quite a few more or less recent bootlegs and live shows I'm not really that bothered about his sloppiness, it's more like his laziness when he sometimes just wanks through parts instead of even trying to play them.

If they want to ''bring their asses back'' they'll do it,even you criticise them or not.Because, even though he doesn't refuse good parts from other members,we shouldn't forget that, when composing time arrives, the band becomes ''Dr. Alexi's test lab''.Only Alexi composes(well,he maybe picks a riff from Roope,or a rythm from Jaska,or part of lyrics from Henkka or a part of background keyboards from Janne, but the 99% of the music is composed by Alexi,as cd's remember with the usual ''Words & music by Alexi Laiho''),so Children Of Bodom sound will be always what Alexi wants to play, because if Alexi isn't fired(which has the probability of 0%)the most probable is that he keeps composing everything.

I dont think Alexi has got worst. If he is getting Drunk alot then maybe he had a hangover at the bad gigs.

Or..........Maybe as they are getting bigger, he gets less time for warmup before a show. Besides, even if he has got worst, expect him to scrub up again because he is pulling in fans of people like Steve Vai and John Petrucci now with the endorsment at ESP helping his name get to other players, and, like Robb Flynn said "its good shred too". Alexis Solo's are more tastefull than some of the most renound players in the world now

and his solos back in the days werent tastefull?

face it..he was better before.

He wasn`t better before:he had to play his best before because if not anyone would have listened to Children Of Bodom, but now that they're at the top and he's admired by people like Zakk Wylde or Steve Vai or John Petrucci(saying only the name of the most famous),he can play a gig completely drunk and anyone will criticise him;but the fact that you should observe is that, even drunk,Alexi can sing and play and miss only a few notes during a whole show, and that's not something that everyone can do.

its simply kick ass awesome attitude
how do you explain his last 2 albums? also that he can write when he's drunk? :Smug:

The fact that you(and lots more, doesn't matter)don't like them doesn't make Are You Dead Yet? and Hate Crew Deathroll bad albums.Different doesn`t mean bad.
