what, exactly, are you going to do about the existence(and success) of shitty bands?
really the only thing you CAN do is to not buy their albums, not see them on tour, and, if they come knocking on your door, refuse to record them
i know that i personally give no financial support to shitty bands like this...but a lot of people like them, and do dish out cash for their product, and nothing that YOU do will change it
+1
Shitty music (depending on your standards) will always exist. Profits will always be made from music that some consider "shit" and some think is "teh uberz awesum11!!."
Some bands sell out and make it, some don't.
What the hell will you, as a consumer, do about it?
Bulldoze the CDs like people did with Body County and other music they find offensive? Yeah, because that really got them somewhere. If I truly hate a band, I don't listen to them. I'm not going to slander them, or spend endless amounts of time talking about them. If I hate something, I tend to not think about it as often as possible. Then again, I don't hate many things. Useless baggage.
Will you embark on a campaign to educate the public on the dangers of shitty, sellout, music and what it is "doing" to the music industry? I think not, and even if you did, people would still buy their music. People consume what they like and as long as there are people who enjoy what you hate, it will continue to be a commodity.
GOOD music, on the other hand, will always exist as well. Lots of gents on here have excellent taste in music, and I'm sure the bands receive and appecirate their support from it. It will always find it's way to people that enjoy it.
And really, how are these bands destroying the music industry? Because some gullable fucktards enjoy certain types of music that we find revulting, should not affect your ability to seek and listen to great music that exists.
Is it that you think these bands are taking resources away from more deserving bands? Fans? What then? If a band strives to make passionate, meaningful music, they will go to great lengths to make sure that it is recorded well, that it reaches the audience, and that it is straight up quality.
If said band is in it for the music, then why is money even a factor?
Let the sellouts be sellouts and let the genuine music exist for what it is and what it does for it's listeners.
EDIT: If you REALLY want to do something about it, then strive to create quality music and to engineer/produce quality records.
