7 minutes long.. much more synth based then i have ever done before..

newer mix.. took the "veil of sin" basic mix, and added some stuff.. please have a listen and tell me what you like, but most importanly, what you dislike and what you would chance.. mix, song, anything goes.. just spit it out!

Drums:

DFHS.. blended Andy's kick samples in with the kick for about 50% or so.. the rest is natural like a pair of a old lady's purple nippled hanging sacks o' titties..

Guitars:

POD XT... again, Shane's preset.. tweaked to my own liking.. C4 on em, and some BBE with a hint of EQ..

Bass:

Reason bass again.. i just love it...

Synths:

a lot!

(I realise the snare is too loud on the faster parts... will lower the volume a bit on those parts..)

Man, I'm loving it. It's just a huge wall of sound and those underlying synths just add so much depth to the mix.

My biggest gripe so far is when some of those tom fills come in, sometimes it feels as if the low-end gets a bit boomy. Maybe it's just my room (I have an issue at 117Hz) but I think maybe some C4 around that range on the toms or overall mix wouldn't go amiss.

Another suggestion is maybe to pull the guitars down a little bit and get a bit more happening in the drums. I know the guitars are adding to that huge wall of sound, but it's good when the drums have some power behind them too.

I do agree about the toms.. and C4 will do the trick just fine, good call!

Also, i agree on the guitar, i think maybe cutting some mid out of it should work as well, if not, down they go..

About the Reason bass you use dude, it's off that track that the nu-metal band sequenced for it yeah? I find it has a very limited range of notes.. how do you make do with that? haha.

Hahaha.. well, it IS limited!

If you'd hear the track on it's own, just the bass, you would laugh hard.. it's so fake sounding, it's not even funny..

however, with drums and guitars added, it somehow sounds way less fake.. it just "supports" the guitars and drums i guess.. so it's cool...

Yeah, that's totally what I noticed. It seems to add a really big layer of bottom and crunch to the entire thing, but just be sure never to solo it or you'll die laughing.

Those guitars are nothing to sneeze at dude - for direct bean guitars I think they are ridiculously good sounding. Of course, the riffery and the writing, the drum progging and the mix all come together to create the well oiled machine.

That Reason bass patch you use, approx how big is it? You're using it with NN-XT, I presume? Is it small enough to send through email? If it is freeware, and small enough to send through email id like to check it out.

Moon - actually there is a lot more to it than just an octave.

I wish I wasn't so late to the game with Reason - that app kicks all kinds of ass, and sweetly enough runs quite radly in sonar as rewire.
