ATT: JayKeeley, Eminor, and anyone else who enjoys True Trad Metal...

I hear total distinct Scalzi-esque in some parts, and some of the riffs just bring the band to mind!

I think it's just common influences, like Brocas Helm and Slough Feg. Slough Feg sounds a LOT like Brocas Helm, but Mike swears he has never heard them.

Btw... you guys are fucking missing out. BUY THIS FUCKING ALBUM NOW! The myspace tracks bearly do this album justice! :kickass: :kickass: :kickass: :kickass:

buy it from Tim or CD baby both fast and reliable. If you buy it from Tim pick up the new Pagan Altar!

No man, that's not true at all. Mike absolutely cites them as an influence. They've even shared the same stage.

What's that URL again?

Lord Tim from ELR said:
Well you're going to have to accept it because SCALZI didn't even know of BROCAS HELM till after he had albums out. I'm not sure exactly when he learnt of them.

OK it's just that you said Mike's "swears he's never even heard of Brocas Helm" and that's the bit I found odd.

From my own interviews with him:

JK: Whenever you’re mentioned, you’re always discussed in the same light as bands like BROCAS HELM or MANILLA ROAD, but do you associate yourself more with the NWOBHM?

MS: To be honest, I do associate myself more with the NWOBHM. When it comes to MANILLA ROAD, not really, and not because I don’t like them but just because I was never influenced by them. BROCAS HELM on the other hand I didn’t discover until 1996, but when I played a show with them was the first time I ever heard them. I have to say, I’m definitely inspired by them now, and vice versa I’m sure. We’re really, really good friends. They’re the best of those underground bands by far. People always mention CIRITH UNGOL too and MANILLA ROAD as if I’d listened to them when I was a kid but I had no idea who they were! It’s just because they weren’t that big and I like the early MANILLA ROAD stuff a lot, but I’m not crazy about every one of their albums. I’ve met them and they’re really cool, and CIRITH UNGOL, I like their stuff but it doesn’t make me go nuts.

So, since this thread is about trad metal, any word on when the Holy Martyr full-length will be out? I'm still listening to and lovinng that mp3 of The Lion of Sparta which Doomc uploaded some time ago.

They are a bunch of greek bastards though for releasing their material in such limited (CDr?) quantities that I could not get ahold of it :[

Yeah they're doing a full-length at some point, but I don't know anything more about it than that. I wish they would compile their first three EPs...
