Bands that are loved by you, hated by many

Bolton has a great voice, I've never heard an entire recording and have always questioned his overly commercial music but like I said thats all I ever heard.
Journey - Perry again great voice, again what I said above. used to like pre Perry Journey for the more progressive music
Jackson - Same deal, grew up with the kids presence, he was always talented but some wires got crossed or something
Pain of Salvation - hit and miss
WhoTF is Vertical Horizon ? Name sounds good
Petrucci - rules, even if what he's playing at any givin time is not the most inspiring, it doesnt matter because I've heard him play it all
WhoTF is M.O.D. ?

M.O.D. Method of Destruction...my friends band...offshoot of S.O.D. Stormtroopers of Death...the first real crossover of metal and NY hardcore back in '85.

I don't really know if they're hated by many, or even known by many but I've never heard anyone saying they loved these.

White Lion
Lynch Mob (once you can isolate yourself from the vocals...)
In Flames
Wintersun

Not totally crazy about White Lion but the song "Leave Me Alone" is one damn hot guitar riff and excellent guitar solo. The song Blue Monday (if thats the right name) Vito dedicated to SRV is pretty sweet too.

I like a lot of In Flames...but I do think there are a lot of haters...especially fans of their old stuff.

-mr. big-there's probably no good reason I should like this band:erk:

I can think of a couple great reasons to like Mr. Big
1. Paul Gilbert
2. Billy Sheehan

Lean Into It is an exceptional album that still finds its way into my CD player now and again. The main lick from Green Tinted Sixties Mind is a gem.

White Lion's Pride is actually quite good as well, though a bit cheesier. Don't Give Up is SO over the top you can't help but love it... I laugh every time they hit the classic key change for the last chorus. Vito is a sharp guitar player, I love how much variety he works into his rhythm playing ala EVH or Nuno.

One band I love that I think few people like is The Cherry Poppin Daddies. After the brief swing craze people pretty much turned on them, but their song writing is fantastic - the album Zoot Suit Riot plays from beginning to end without a single weak song. Plus their drummer went on to be the drummer for Yngwie Malmsteen... who'd have seen that one coming?

Another would be Extreme, Pornograffiti is, IMO, the best 80s metal album of all time.

I guess from what I read, Vito was a great guitar player, some kind of hand injury. When I listen to his riffs and solos all I can think is..... right guitar player...... wrong band. He should have been in a "heavy" metal band, not a pop metal band. He would open songs with killer riffs, you'd start getting all excited..... then the vocals and verse/chorus/verse/chorus thing would kick in and it would be like - "bummer"

queing up "Leave Me Alone" on cassette now

Definitely agree here. Though I prefer Extreme to Mr. Big, they're both great and I love Sheehan's bass work.
