ACDC? Are you kidding me? We would not have a lot of stuff we have these days without them. They are massively important and very good...and the Beatles... beatles are sooooo overated, but ACDC is not! Nirvana is overrated. yeah!

If you would use that defense for ACDC (which could be heavily contested, and quite easily at that) and then call the Beatles overrated, you are extremely misguided.

don't get me wrong. The beatles are good. Just not as good as everyone says.... BUT without them we would not have bands like THE WHO... you know? They are important to music history.

And yes....AC/DC is massively overrated. A few good songs, but if you go to a gig, all the songs start to sound the same after a while. Guitarwise adequate but mostly hit-or-miss, ridiculously simplistic basslines, and less than stellar vocals.

Hm... the ORIGINAL vocalist was good though. That is the ACDC I like. Like that "Can I sit next to you girl" Song... it's great.

Once again I stated the truth about said band and only did so as they were mentioned with a comment about how they seemed to sound funny, so I passed some enlightenment as to why they sound funny. Otherwise I have skipped the thread and made a comment pertaining to not being surprised or that it doesnt matter who listens to what.

But now that we are this far I think I will just keep at it.

So... I'll say it again, this is but another thread made by the OP that is for the sole purpose of bashing bands. There is no other explaination for the topic and that is the course the thread took as could be expected.

If this was NOT the purpose the title would have been what bands do you think Symphony X listens to.

Symphony X = Awesome
AC/DC = Don't care about them
The Beatles = Good stuff and seriously a VERY important band in the history of rock music
Nirvana = They're alright
Dragonforce = I liked the first album, they're bit of a joke now
Nickelback = Well... You know, as Devin Townsend pointed out, they do some things right (production) but it's not the kind of music I really want to listen to...
U2 = good music
The Who = ok

Right. The Bon Scott era AC/DC was decent stuff. But listening to any AC/DC after that is like eating a Papa John's pizza pie. When you first bite into it, it's pretty phenomenal but after a while every bite tastes the same and you're chomping on auto pilot.

Hey, don't totally knock/write off the Mamas and Papas. I like their version of "Dream A Little Dream Of Me". And with Russell Allen's melodic depth, who knows?

And Atomic Soul has two sweet songs on it.

me, I think there is a few totally sick songs, some pretty good songs and one kinda sweet song. Well rounded album IMO. I should get it back out and find the second "sweet" song Prismatic mentioned.

Makes me wonder if one should be surprised if they listen to this on road trips ? I would guess not... nor their own stuff... thats a hard call ??? Lots of time little to do...
