Beer

I had not had a good beer in what seemed like forever (maybe a month or two) until this past week. I went to NYC twice in the past five days for Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Agalloch. I had some of my favorites and some new beers. I even got to hear the glorious phrase "this one's on the house" as I closed my tab :kickass:

Cask:
Great Divide Yeti

Tap:
Rogue Double Mocha Porter
Stone 13th Anniversary Ale
Stone Old Guardian
Stone Double Bastard Ale
Captain Lawrence Xtra Gold Tripel
Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA
Bear Republic Old Scouters Barley Wine
Oskar Blues Dale's Pale Ale

nice list there ray! How was the Yeti on cask? I bet it was fucking delicious. I have a couple bottles of Oak Aged Yeti down in the cellar

It was excellent. That was the first time I had a beer on cask so I made sure to pick one of my favorites. The oak aged/chocolate/espresso Yetis are all great beers. I've been impressed with the two Captain Lawrence beers I've had so far which are their IIPA and Tripel but I'm not sure if they distribute outside the NY area.

review from BA:

Poured from bottle into my New Belgium tulip. Pours nicely. Golden color with a great head that reduces to a nice level and leaves lacing

smell is fruity and slightly spicy. I thought this was supposed to be hoppy? I don't know...maybe this is a defunct bottle. Taste is very nice. Slightly fruity...banana, lemony...almost like a good hefeweizen. The aftertaste has only the slightest bit of farmhouse funk on it

Mouthfeel is light and airy. This is super easy to drink. I can see drinking this on a warm summer night...that would be perfect. Overall, I enjoyed it. Would I go out of my way to get this over some of the more readily available saisons? I don't know about that. It is very good and definitely worth trying but nothing remarkable.

had Le Terroir, a sour ale, and it was pretty good. Followed it up with Metric Ale 10/10/10, a Belgian Strong Pale Ale brewed with ten different ingredients, one of them being black pepper. Yeah the pepper was definitely noticeable, and I didn't like it at all. bleh

I don't get it how you could actually HATE a beer.
It's easy. Red Stripe, and any product by Bud Miller or Coors are prime examples.

Tonight i went to 3 Floyds brewery again. This time i got to try their new American Pale Ale Zombie Dust. Extremely good and is actually way better than the Alpha King (which is their other Pale Ale). I guess its "Citra-hopped" or something like that. You can taste the tangerine and other fruits immediately.

I also had the Arctic Panzer Wolf which is the best IPA i've ever tried....maybe Pliny The Younger can top it but until i try it, this one will remain.

Lastly i had the Rabbid Rabbit which is a Belgian style Farmhouse Ale. Pretty good, reminded me of Duvel.
