If they stay the same, they're redundant, if they go back to Orchid or black metal sounds (which Mikael has experimented with, his vocals style on Edge of Sanity's Crimson was black, not death metal) he's somehow selling out or trying anything because he's running out of ideas.

Yeah, that's what I thought when I saw that post. I'm hardly an Opeth boff but I'd say their reputation and direction are sure enough signs that they aren't going to pull a standard traditional Black Metal album.

I just bought the new Priest. It's kicking my ass with impressive power. "Demonizer" seriously made me shit my pants, and I'm thinking "Worth Fighting For" is going to be one of those growers. Not too hot on "Judas Rising"...just seems like an extended intro. More later.

The new Kreator, I like. Not as much as I did at first, but it's moderately impressive, and catchy as all hell. The title track is easily up there with the best of their early material.

The new Dissection, judging by that "Maha Kali" clip, is going to suck colossal donkey cock. Soilwork's still gay. Surprise, surprise.

The new Bruce is going to rock my world. And there's a new SLOUGH FEG coming out?! Fuck YES.

Actually, Damnation aside, BWP is easily my least favourite. And funnily enough, it was the album that introduced me to the band.

Morningrise is their best, and NAD secretly agrees with me because he also rubs himself down with baby oil before each listen.
