Best of 2005 - new, old, on the fence, disappointing, and still to come

FUCKING ULVER!!! How could I forget? I've been waiting for that for.... well some time now!

You guys need to track down the Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie shows they did together in the 80's. I think it was simply called "Fry and Laurie". Soooooo good, no shit.

I even have a book that contains the scripts from the shows. Those guys are so clever/funny, it's scary. Some of our finest went to Oxford/Cambridge for a reason.

Awesome, didn't even know there was one in the works. Oh man, if just one song is as good as Sarcophagus it'll be album of the year.

I have a feeling that this will be their best and most epic work yet.

Why? Two reasons:

1 - In Their Darkened Shrines was about as epic / movie-like they could get. Bands usually don't regress.

2 - Sanders put an album out with just the ambient bits, so he's found his groove. He's going to have lots of material to pass over to Nile.

Put it altogether and you'll get something quite...magnificent.

Or it could be a complete turd and we'll all have a laugh with lurch70. :loco:

they are just a bunch of overweight hicks from middle America singing about fucking pyramids and mummies :D

Hey so does Arghoslent want to kick Nile's ass because they're local my pals lovers?

Does that mean Bethany is part black?

Best so far
Primordial - The band I should have discovered long ago, all hail the pagan masters
Moonsorrow - Still growing on me, haven't listened enough
Nokturnal Mortum - Some stunning parts, too many interludes
Judas Priest - Their best album ever?
Dark Tranquillity - Still struggling with truly appreciating it
Kreator - We didn't really need a violent revolution part 2, the initial enthusiasm has kind of worn off
Drudkh - Still undecided, need to listen more, but it's great stuff no doubt
Soilwork - They know how to write songs with hooks, better than most melodeath

Looking forward to:
Summoning - If it's anything like the last album and ep, this is teh win
Negura Bunget - should be interesting
Dissection - The release I am most curious about
Candlemass - Reports are saying its a true return to the old glorious days
Dawn - I doubt it will be out this year, but this should be awesome
Opeth - Bordering on black metal..should be great as usual
Bruce Dickinson - Can't be anything but a 10/10
Nevermore - Andy Sneap producing, Jeef Loomis composing = 10/10
Demons & Wizards - Will get repeated spins no doubt
Taake - If it's nearly as good as the other albums, this is top 10 stuff
