Best of 2005 - new, old, on the fence, disappointing, and still to come

John Frusciante's new album rules. Not as much as Shadows Collide With People, but since that album is almost perfect, I'm okay with it.

I don't understand why the world isn't enthralled with this dude's singing and guitaring. You look up the word soul in the dictionary and there are no words, it just has this picture:

When I saw RHCP a couple of years ago, I think he sang one song and I remember being APPALLED by his voice. :(

I didn't pay attention to his dead days, all I know is I saw RHCP on Y2K Eve at the Forum and Frusciante played and sang one of his solo tunes and it was simply enthralling. Shadows Collide With People is so good it hurts, and this new stuff is really raw and demo sounding, but it works really well. Give that man a guitar and hit the fucking record button man, you get PURE AUDIAL GOLD in return.

He released SIX ALBUMS within the last year! SIX! I've heard 2, and I need to hear the others. I think one is a split with someone, not sure.

Either he was having an off night or you don't like passionate soulful vocals. :)

Seriously, objectively speaking, and I'm DEAD SERIOUS, John Frusciante fucking rules. End of story.

Hell, back then maybe I was just a dumb 17 year old kid who was like "WTH OMG WHY ISNT THE SINGER SINGING?"

haha actually that happened when QotSA had someone else do vocals for one song too. Good show, either way.

Still, to be fair, you can only judge once you've heard it, but why bands keep picking 'famous' songs to cover is beyond me. What next, Nevermore covering Simon and Garfunkel's greatest hit? Oh wait.... :ill:

You vunt, I was saying that this cover is gonna RULE!

You can't just turn up once a year to do a year end list. :tickled: Try contributing some reviews and interviews between now and then you smelly black bitch.

Listen skank, I've had three tests this week, one next week and two massive papers due. Trashing the latest Soilwork album isn't exactly a high priority at the moment! :D

Damn university, the only time it leaves me to listen to metal is while I'm doing homework. How the hell am I supposed to absorb albums properly while i'm trying to bullshit my way through some essay on Louis XIV?!

That sounds quite cool actually

HOLY FUCK I totally forgot about the new NIN that will be out very soon.

Nine Inch Nails are one of the greatest bands ever, it's no surprise that my drunk ass just had to wrestle like fuck to get my god damn VHS audio to come out my good speakers since I tossed on Closure (VHS from years back) on just now. SOOCOROEORE.

I can't stop listening to the new Frusciante. Every time the CD ends in my car (it's really short) and Meshuggah - Chaosphere starts (next disc), I say "no way dude!" (even though I love that album) and put Frusciante back on (one more parenthetic statement to überfuck this "sentence" into [complete] submission).
