Best solo of all time

It may not be the most technically amazing, the fastest or even the longest, but i just love Dream Theater - Take The Time, the passage just past the 5 min mark.
.
..wait, now that i listen to it again, does that even count as a solo? Shit, i need a beer...and its only 930 in the morning....
i despise how it fades out just as it gets going, the live version really does it justice :worship:

Dunno.
"Crabsody In Blue" AC/DC?
"Children Of The Damned" Iron Maiden?
"Aqualung" Jethro Tull?
I rather like the one on Def Leppard's "Armageddon It" too.
"Trapped Under Ice" by Metallica has some crackers too.
Too many to choose from!

The Andy Larocque solo on ATG's "Cold".

Thordendal's solo in Meshuggah "New Millenium Cyanide Christ".

Emperor "The Eruption". Ihsahn is a criminally underrated soloist.

The Chris Poland solo from Lamb Of God's "Purified".

Rush "Freewill". Alex had sick tone back in the day.

That one Nevermore song on 'Dead Heart' where the dude does a sweep up into what sounds like the fastest single-note trill I've ever heard. I don't know if that thing is even possible, I've never seen it done, but that's what it sounds like.

Vital Remains' "Dechristianize" cause it's just cool.

Any of Aarseth's solos on Mayhem's "DMDS" could easily be the greatest of all time.

I could think of 10 more if I tried, so I'll stop now.

Any of the solos from Diabolical Masquerade's Death's Design album.

As I said, I recently got a DM album, Ravendusk in my Heart, and dug it, so I was interested to hear Death's Design. I'm nearing the end of it now, and it fuckin rules. It reminds me of Crimson 2, how it's broken down, and stuff. Does Anders play all the orchestrated stuff himself too? If so, I'm impressed even more.

D1, weren't you talking about Dark Tranquillity the other day? I picked up Character and I like it.

Thread-related content: none.

Stairway to Heaven suuuuucks, IMO. That's the first song EVERY PERSON in the world plays while are learning how to play guitar. It drives me insane. Period.
my first song was Counting Crows - Mr Jones. :)

but i agree, Stairway to Heaven was a good song 15 years ago. playing it now more than once every few months is doing it injustice via overplay. i hate when i walk into a guitar store to buy something and some loser is butchering stairway.

at guitar stores i always play some blink-182 on a PRS real loud and crappily.

ps: hello, Luz

friggin awesome. my "guitar store tactic" is to walk in like a complete newb dumbass, and see if the sales people try to con me into buying something that sucks. if they speak true, then it is a tr00 store. if they try to sell me shit that sucks, they aren't getting any string-money from me

Did it happen to you? Tell us, this place right now is boring.
