I like both but defenetively Death Metal rocks more to me, cause it is almost always the same, Black Metal has too many strange forms to take shape that sometimes I don't even know what I'm listening, so Death metal it is

And........ Bolt Thrower rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think I am one of the only guys out here who likes Black Metal better than Death Metal. I just like Black Metal. Its more Lord of the Rings type of stuff. Plus I like the vocals better. Death Metal is cool but the vocals I just can't stand and it bothers me for some reason.

i love black metal for its atmosphere, wether its the really evil stuff like Beherit or rawer stuff. the only death metal bands i like are the ones that are really technical/brutal like Nile, Cryptopsy, etc. i can't stand bands like Cannibal or Deicide simply because they don't hit me like more brutal/technical bands do. but for concerts definately death metal. I almost got a concussion the last time i saw Cryptopsy!. but since i love atmosphere over anything else my vote goes to BM with Dm a close 2nd.

Black (I include SMDM as black as the lyrical concepts in those bands tie in more with black metal than death metal. Also, the music has that melodic edge typical to black metal)

Black is a more diverse genre and more can be done with it than death. Viking metal is cool also.

um...well the only full on black metal cd i have would be emperor-attwad, and it is quite good(although u cant hear the vocals!!!)
i never really cared for straight death metal, does anybody consider death-sound of perseverance death metal? i sure dont, but they are supposed to be one of the originators of death metal. either way that album fucking rules...the only other albums i have that could fall into one of these catagories is in flames-clayman and opeth-blackwater park. i always thought the gothenburg style sounded more like black metal than death metal to me(listen to the vocals!) but it seems to get labeled a variation of death metal, and opeth has elements of death metal but its hard to call them that
so as u can see i dont have much to go on so im going with black based on the fact that it has some melody and i cant stand most death metal vocals(cannibal corpse for example)

Blast! My two favorite types. Black.... no, Death, no..... Too tough to decide. Slight (and I mean very slight) edge to Black, though.
