Bloodbath just revived my...

I dunno, it's good death I suppose, I just find that I can't even listen to the whole thing straight. I guess its cause I don't really dig the ridiculously silly lyrics and idea of "lets make a lot of noise and sound as evil as we can", I much prefer the melody and drift of Opeth.

I was gonna say the exact same thing, but you beat me to it.

I bought it today and...WOW...hm, better than Deliverance? I like it (RTC) more, but I cannot judge whether it's better or not. Maybe I just like it more because brutal Death Metal was the style that got me into metal. But what's for sure is that RTC is easier to get into and it's pure fun listening to it!!

This may just be my opinion, but it doesn't really make sense to compare Resurecction Through Carnage to Deliverance. They're entirely different styles of music, and although I think both are good, it's like comparing apples to bananas. While both Deliverance and RTC have their brutal parts, the acoustic medlies and the excellent transitions in between are what set Opeth apart from most other bands, in my opinion.

Don't get me wrong, I love RTC. I preordered it through The End, and I take it with me anytime I go on trips. I'm just saying, both albums are good, and it really doesn't seem right to say that a goofy, throw-away side-project CD is better than something Mikael, Peter, and the two Martins slaved over for five weeks or whatever it was. I think I even remember reading that most of RTC was done ad-lib.

Again, though, this is just my opinion.

Why? I'm not saying either one is better, but just because they spent more time on Deliverance doesn't mean it's better.

Well, I'm a bigger fan of Anders, Jonas, and Dan's various musical output's than I am of Mikael's & co (though not by much), so I'm looking foward to it based on that, though I fully expect Deliverance to stay in my stereo longer. :D

Oh, yeah?

Time to meet thy maker. Fingers tighten around your neck.....fuckers.

Seriously, though. Bloodbath is a helluva fun time listen. Party record. Opeth is more for relaxing and/or being completely swallowed in all the atmosphere. IMO.
