Bloodbath just revived my...

Don't get me wrong, I love RTC. I preordered it through The End, and I take it with me anytime I go on trips. I'm just saying, both albums are good, and it really doesn't seem right to say that a goofy, throw-away side-project CD is better than something Mikael, Peter, and the two Martins slaved over for five weeks or whatever it was. I think I even remember reading that most of RTC was done ad-lib.

Again, though, this is just my opinion.
Yet I'm sure you don't mind comparing to Bloodbath to another death metal band who've also slaved over their albums for months and months. I could sit and spend 10 years making an album but since I can't play an instrument it'd still not be as good as RTC.

Deliverance may be a great album, but it isn't really anything I haven't heard before(from Opeth) apart from flashes of originallity in little parts..but Bloodbath are just insane, the first time I've heard anything like them. I'm not saying they are unique or anything, but they are the only band I know of that play like that, and I've checked out all the influences and the bands they are parodying but apart from Grave's new work, no one comes close and that's why I like the album so much. That's my opinion.

Got it today.

Much heavier than Breeding Death.

Better than Deliverance in the short term.

But in the long term, Opeth takes the crown.

Both amazing records though.

It's a good album but as I've said before, even if it sounded exactly the same but Åkerfeldt wasn't in it, you people wouldn't be raving about it.

Anyways, I'd take the early swedish death metal albums like Grave - Into the Grave and Carnage - Dark Recollections over this one.

Actually, in my case you are 100% wrong :p

Damn, I was going to put "most of you" because some might actually got interested in it through Renkse, Blackheim or Swanö, but forgot it.

The fact is, without one of those four in the band, I probably would have never heard them.

What has how we found the band got to do with anything? I only found Opeth because my friend raved about them all the time...how is that better than finding a band because you know the line-up?

A great album is a great album, no matter how you discover it.

That's actually a pretty stupid statement.

But yes, you are probably right.

Not for me though.

That's why I think the statement is silly.

The point is that no one would've given it a second listen because there wouldn't have been any big names involved. Plus I bet more people would've accused them of ripping off the early swedish death metal bands but since they are known figures and clearly state that they are giving respect where respect is due such cloning is tolerated.

What a rocker. Music for a party vol #1!

OK, so it´s easy listening, but I love it. Considering I wasn´t blown away by Deliverance this really made my day.
Blaah, don't be naive, there's nothing good in metal... :)

If that were the case, no band would ever become popular as no one would have listened to them when they weren't...it's just a ridiculous thing to say. PErhaps what you mean is that less people would have started listening to them if not for the all-star line-up, that is more likely but I think the reaction to the latest albums from Soilwork and In Flames prove the point that if it's a shit album the fans will say it's shit no matter who it's by.

Why not? By no one, I mean no one from here since most people here aren't death metal fans since it probably isn't complex enough for them or "it's too childish for them with those idiotic lyrics and all". About your last comment, what the hell are you talking about? Natural Born Chaos has definitely gotten much more praises for it than slagging, almost the same with In Flames.

Yeah, I know. It's a disgrace the way some people act! :err:

My copy is still on the way from THE END.

MacMoney has a valid point. If Bloodbath was just four guys from Sweden playing early 90's swedish death metal, none of you would be praising it. But since it involves Mikey, Dan, and the two Katatonia guys, everyone raves about it

I like Bloodbath better known as Bloodpeth...Brutal as fuck, and fun to listen to wuth a looser style of playing..You know the jokes on us when these four great musicians get together and jam..Hails to Bloodpeth..-l-Bloodpeth should tour with Opeth, there would be a great pit for that..
