I just thought since it's coming up in a couple of days or so, I'd look to see who all is attending this Sunday. This is definitely one of the concerts I'm most looking towards this year thus far.
probably going to see them in Charlotte.
you are going down to that? You should have mentioned it and I would have probably went with you.
I would be curious if I knew what the hell BTBAM was or what it those upper case letters stand for! Info please...
Between The Buried and Me. Incredible musicians. Saw them in Atlanta back on the 9th. They were perfect, but I absolutely cannot stand their fans. I mainly went for Cynic, and was definitely pleased by them!
Oops. Sorry for not specifying but I thought most people knew. I'm curious since you already went metal messiah, how long did each band play? Did BTBAM play the new album start to finish? I wouldn't be surprised that their fans suck. They have a lot of that pure hardcore fandem, which is funny because they're getting further and further away from that with each album.

well, the reason they bring so many hardcore fans is that is the scene they started in when they were called PRAYER FOR CLEANSING. the hardcore scene is the one that will always embrace them and have been there since the beginning to watch them grow into the progressive beast they have become.
plus you also have to remember most of the members are straight-edge and vegan. so that too brings about a ton of support from the hardcore scene.
like i say if you don't like the pit stay out of the circle, but everyone needs a rowdy show once in awhile. i know i do.

BTBAM has straightforward deathcore songs?????
News to me.
The crowd for the Atlanta show had a lot of bros. People were trying to mosh during Cynic, openly mocking them, etc. Sorry they didn't have enough half-assed At the Gates worship riffs with a generic breakdown thrown in.
who said Deathcore? there is a big difference between hardcore and deathcore. hardcore is not just a type of music but to many it's a lifestyle. but there are several tracks on their first album that could be considered "deathcore" by today's standards.
and yes, "bros" are quite annoying i must admit as my band brings out far too many at our shows and very few of them are actually "hardcore" people. i like to call them wannabees.
Metal Messiah did.
But even on their self-titled, they weren't doing the typical Suicide Silence stuff...they were doing interesting things, even then.
Believe me, I know all about hardcore. Within the past week I've seen Trapped Under Ice, Naysayer, Title Fight, Foundation, etc.
I don't mean "bros" as in people you'll see at a metalcore show, though. I mean the popped collar, Jersey Shore type people, haha.

Man, you guys weren't wrong about BTBAM's fans being annoying. Were they ever at this show. Loved their set, but I was highly disappointed in how some were treating Cynic.
Weird, I feel like we were at two different shows. I thought it was the most appreciative and respectful crowd of young kids I've *ever* seen at a show.
Understand, it was a sold-out show, with almost everyone there to see BTBAM. It doesn't matter who the headliner is, whether it's BTBAM or Barry Manilow; anytime you have a huge crowd of fanboys, there will always be some who aren't interested in the opening bands and will make their opinion known. That's just the nature of fandom.
Still, the only thing I heard during Cynic was a completely-understandable "what the fuck?" during one of new-age-philosophy voice-overs. Beyond that, I thought the crowd was incredibly appreciative of all 4 bands in the lineup, way moreso than a group of my peers would have been 15 years ago. Heck, at least half the crowd actually *did* the yoga-pose with Masvidal, for a band of old dudes who released their first album when most of them were still in diapers!
If you want an annoying fan, contrast that with the goose-stepping Nazi at Behemoth (minus Septic Flesh) last night who was bowling people over and smashing through the non-mosh area. I was proud of the crowd though when they booed him down and then one hero got in his face which led to him being promptly booted from the show.
