Christian Metal

Anyone put Buddha's balls into play?

Christian Metal.... why is it called "Christian Metal"?

Hell, I'm christian and if I form a band, I'm sure as hell not about to go ahead and right a metal song about jesus being the Savior.. at least not in a "Positive" way....

Should be called religious metal actually...

He also looks very metal. The beard, the long hair, the gaping wound in the side. Kvlt az fvck.

Plus, he's like a living corpse, and had to die by torture for a bunch of complaining jews.

That makes him simultaniously necr0 and gr1m.

The only reason he had long hair and beard was because he was a poor bastard who didn't have money to go to the hair dresser. And he died at 33 and didnt even get laid. I'm sure he still lived at his parents. Plus, even though he was killed by a bunch of jews, he claimed to be their king which is the most un-metal claim ever ever.

Not all of the lyrics are positive. Pretty much the only Christian metal band I know of that has overly positive lyrics (excluding the power metal and hair metal bands) is Mortification, and I don't really care for their music. Some are actually quite depressing/dark, like, say, Paramaecium, Antestor, Sympathy, Crimson Moonlight, Frost Like Ashes, and the like. I much prefer lyrics like that. Here are a few examples: (from www.darklyrics.com )

Antestor - Depressed

Fighting seems so in vain
Weakened by my own brain
Mindless torture blackening my thoughts
I'm flying away to my deepest decay
I'm falling through the black hole
I've lost my tears now I'm cold
Deeper deeper deeper I'll fall
I have no strength hear my call
My soul is screaming let me free
Take away this pain I see
Descending feelings where are you leading me
Desires of death rules in my darkness
In the shadows I'll die all alone
Blinding sorrow there's no tomorrow
There's no place my soul can hide
Slain by the thoughts that lied
Fighting seems so in vain
Weakened by my own brain

Sympathy - Love Me and Despair

welcome to my lair
where I have slain the mighty
and tasted the blood of the righteous
the ashes and remains
of their rotted flesh
is fetid on the breath of my mouth

I am the tempter
the alluring lech and harlot
I call as a siren unto all
come and taste
of my wine and secret pleasures
surrender your will unto me

embrace the night
to share my gifts
bow unto me
love me and despair

I am the lust
that festers like a wound
and poisons your mind with every thought
I am the hunger
that weakens your resolve
and consumes your heart and soul

I offer you all the pleasures of your flesh
just bow and give your worship to me
I offer you all the luxury of wealth
just swear your allegiance to me
I will give you all your heart desires
but you will be bound unto me

abandon all hope
ye who enter here
for mine is the gateway to hell
my snares will entangle
and my claws grip your flesh
and you will become my thrall

Paramaecium - The Voyage of the Severed

The disciples, they were crucified, burned alive, decapitate
Those of the Reformation rejected the establishment of Rome
The likes of Luther at the diet of Worms
Others put to death in utter cruelty for failing to submit to a church of corruption
Denying transubstantiation|
But they overcame them by the blood of the Lamb
And the word of their testimony, and they loved not their lives unto death

That church, you think you're right all the time
You think you know what life means
Silence, see your crime, for things are seldom what they seem
As though to breathe were life
Darkness begins to rot your mind, putrefaction has left you blind
Your traditions and lies have left you less than whole
For what will it profit a man if he gains the world but loses his soul

So basically it's emo christian whinery. How metal.

I don't understand people like you. Metal is just another form of music and the lyrical content is entirely up to whatever the band wants to make it. The best bands are the ones that write music about their true interests in life, because then they have a deeper, more passionate connection. If that interest is Christianity or any religion, so what? Metal is not inherently anti-religious (else there wouldn't be so many pagan metal bands or groups obsessed with the occult) or anti-Christian, unless you want to say Black Sabbath isn't metal. The fact is that all the hatred of Christianity and religion that is present in metal music became cliche a LONG time ago. You'd think bands would be a little more creative with their lyrics, but so many of them buy into all the stereotypes and shit.

I heard Veni Domine resembled candlemass and solitude aeturnus. I'm curious in hearing them if that's true.
Combine the most atmospheric moments of S.A. with the Candlemass heaviness and add some Queensryche/Fates Warning vocals and melodies and you get Veni Domine. I absolutely love this band.
My fav bands of this so called "genre":
Saviour Machine
Veni Domine
Trouble
Recon
Haven
Sacred Warrior

Yup.

What do you think about the term "anti-Christian ghospel"? Like with a bunch of people clapping their hands praising Satan, dancing and waving their hands every once in a while. It's technically possible but sounds very wrong.
As does Christian metal, especially Christian black metal. Wtf.
