Good point. Let me re-phrase then. It seemed to me he was equating all belief in God with Christianity. It has been fucked with, handed down to a few select people, and translated so many times that people don't even know what version is closest to the original. Plus, most of the shit that people quote are from books that were letters to specific churches or things of this nature, and shouldn't even be included in the Bible. IMO.
