Christian Metal

I don't think christianity has a place in metal, but if the music is good, I don't mind. As for good christian metal bands...

Is Vanden Plas christian? I never payed a lot of attention to their lyrics, but as far as I can tell, they seem to be.

Intellectually I don't want to have anything to do with Christian metal, but I can't deny that I love the idea of artists like Horde. I do think it's a really unique idea with some interesting potential.

This is kinda silly.
We don't have a genre called Satanic Metal (unless you count black metal...)
So why have a genre called Christian Metal?

It's not a genre, but rather a description of primary lyrical content. Christian metal bands could play any genre of metal.

I appreciate your point, but I guess it's just the way it developed. That's one thing about the American Christian culture. There seems to be a tendancy to make everything "safe", and label it as such. To "sanctify" things by putting the label "Christian" on them. To be fair, I don't believe that truly speaks to the motivation behind all "Christian metal" bands. They are made up of people with a whole range of motivations and passions. The early Christian metal scene (late 80's, early 90's) holds a special place in my heart. :saint:

yeah there's some good christian metal out there... i just picked up an ultra rare copy of Deliverance- Weapons of Our Warfare for five bucks... normally you can't find that shit for anything less than fifty bucks
