Christian Metal

I like the whole idea of the Christian counter culture in heavy metal.

Anyone ever heard of the band Frost Like Ashes? they are super heavy!

Its ok i guess.

Nice answer.

Stop the Bleeding, their first release, is pretty killer thrash with some King Diamond influences, mostly in the vocals. It has it's moments of cheesy vocals and lyrics, but it totally kicks ass. The last song is quite remeniscent of Mercyful Fate.

The second, Psycho Surgery has some killer thrash. The falsetto vocals are mostly gone, and there are more of those low, almost goth-like vox mixed with the regular singing voice. They mix it up more, musically also. There is one rap/metal song that kinda sucks, but also has its moments.

Third is Pathogenic Ocular Dissonance. Follows similarly to the second release. Some killer stuff, some ok stuff. No rap.

I would highly recommend any metal fan check any of these out. I think the first is my favorite.

After that, forget it. They got pretty mellow at times and got a different singer who seemed to often be trying to imitate the old singer, but he wasn't good at it. Their last couple are heavier, but to me they were never the same.

Yea, I've ehard some of their stuff. Tophet is a pretty good album. If you like them, you probably would like Admonish.

Impending Doom is pretty bad ass.

As far as Christian Metal goes, I'm not Christian... but I'm also not a Satanist... so religious overtones on metal have no bearing on my opinion of the music. If it sounds good, it's good.

I just want to say that I started a thread a while ago that was titled "Unblack Metal" as a joke, and it got shut down. How come this thread is still active? It's basically the same thing.

I started an unblack thread a long time ago, and it ended up pretty active. Maybe its existence was why yours got the axe.

Or maybe because it wasn't that funny of a joke.

Virgin Black. Even if the Christian aspects are somewhat unorthodox.

Great call. And great band. They do have an unorthodox approach. "Goth-Christians..." Whatever, it still rocks.

And you're right Achrisk, it probably wasn't very funny. Oh well, Invert the Inverted Cross! (that song title always makes me laugh)

Yet you don't know how much you like their catalog?

It was just that I have never heard it referred to like that. If you said "how are their albums?" then i would of known what you where talking about is all:cool: i just said it was ok cuzz i did not know what you where talking about! lol.
