the wifes wealthy uncle has something similar. I had heard stories about it and when I finally saw it, I was like, "uhm...that's it?"
I watched the Coffee episode of Good Eats and Alton Brown says all you need is a thermal carafe and a manual filter, and you heat the water yourself in a tea pot.
Now that's a system that won't break down.
Now that we've got coffee makers down, what brand of coffee are you guys using?
Seattle's Best almost exclusively.
Keurig makes a great cup of coffee and it's extremely easy to use once it's hooked up as it's ALWAYS ready to brew.
Just stick in one of the small coffee packs and BAM instant cup without wasting any.
The small coffee packs are not that expensive at all and you have a TON of different styles to choose from. You can just order them online and you have supplies that keep for months and months.
Definitely worth it.
My employer has 3 of these, and they seem to go on the fritz every month. Two of the coffee makers in particular require slamming the tray after insertion. No wam bam, thank you mam, here. You have to coddle the brewer's every need. Slam it too hard, and the K-Cup falls in to the disposal tray. Of course it's probably going through an average of 50 cups a day, but this is commercial equipment we're discussing here.
My girlfriend got me a french press for Christmas, and it makes the very best cups of coffee I've ever drank in my life plus I get like two million snob points.
I got some "scandinavian" coffee at Trader Joe's today in honor of our "Scandinavian" friends here at RC
