Concerts

Coma, were you at the Blackfield/Anathema gig in Boston in May? I think I saw you there, but I was trying to get drunk and entertain some ladies. I should have said hello. I am a bad internet friend.

I will make it up to you next time I'm partying in New England.

Yes I was at that show, no way in hell I was missing Anathema. I go to a lot of shows in New England so if you make you're way up here I'm bound to run into you.

I was at the Chicago God is an Astronaut show last night- it was amazing. The audience reception was perfect, lots of dancing/headbanging, cheering between songs, etc. The band was openly surprised by how well they were being received- at one point the guitarist was trying to tell us that this was really their best concert ever and that we were wonderful, but we wouldn’t let him because we were cheering so much that we drowned him out.

The whole place went crazy for Fire Flies and Empty Skies. Anthony’s video of that song from NYC shows a dead crowd in comparison. There was no light show, no video projected behind them, just a tiny stage in a tiny venue, and an awesome personal experience with God is an Astronaut. I really hope someone got some good video of the show.

I went to Enslaved and Alcest last Sunday in NYC and it was absolutely brilliant. I will never tire of seeing Enslaved live. I thought this past Tuska was the best Enslaved performance I had ever seen, but this show easily topped that.

I am toying with the idea of going to Saxon in NYC on October 13. :)

How did you like Alcest? Saw then a few months ago and they were really good.. sound was terrible though.

I didn't think the sound was very good for them.

I much preferred them on their albums! Like, it wasn't studio magic like with other bands... but it was still just... not the same. I enjoyed the vibes I felt more when listening to them on their album. I wasn't really getting the same thing live.

Their sound was horrible at Jaxx. The drums were 5x louder than everything else.

Enslaved was fantastic at Jaxx. They are one of the best live bands I have seen. They are very entertaining and they sound great. Alcest was cool as well. I think the worst part was that the vocals were really low. I also liked the band Junius. I am looking forward to their new album.

I'm super pumped for Saxon next Thursday in NYC. I'm also contemplating when I should buy my MDF ticket. Looks like Agalloch is playing on a Thursday, which means I'm getting the 4 day ticket.
