contraversial musical opinions

Alot of Slayer haters here...strange. Oh well, to each's own I guess. Does anyone still listen to Six Feet Under? I see the banner ad above but the last few album they made have been terrible. Specially the "Back In Black" re-make.
Cephalic Carnage? Anyone?
Yeah, KATATONIA lost me after "Tonights Decision", now they sound like American Nu-Metal circa 1997-2001 ish.
Here's controversy: I wear my Slayer shirts (I proudly own over 30) and people pull their children close to them and look at me funny. Sad part is Slayer's shirts are not even close to being "evil" looking. Slayer is not even an "evil" band but the general public automatically says "Satanist". I live in the Midwest USA, so you can only imagine the narrow minds here. If it's not Nascar, Budweiser, Chevy Trucks and Mullets then it's wierd to them. Yeah, it's irrelevant to this topic.

Correction: Mustang Drags, BudLight, Ford Trucks, and Mullets are ok with me. And I really dont think that many here hate Slayer, probably just Kerry King.

Here goes everyone's opinion of me this soon, but... I do honestly believe that if the guitarists of Dragonforce dropped ZP Theart and his shitty vocals and made their own band, it would probably be good.
On another note of guitarists, Paul Gilbert > most guitarists today.

I've heard Glen Benton called an average growler many times, but they're such beast-like, they fit Deicide's music perfectly, he's a great growler.

He's studio and gimmick and he really has no talent.

^ I was defending PTree. From "J"'s acinine comment on previous page. Contraversial opinions is the name of the thread. Id say Porcupine Tree belongs here.

I have seen deicide live twice. Laughable band especially for how long they have been around and how big they are.

I have seen opening local death metal bands that run circles around them.

Why? because he can play fast? please... I can name half a dozen other guitarists who can play just as fast if not faster.. doesn't mean shit... what does mean shit is if it's good or not... sounds good... good songwriting... etc... Below are fast guitarists that do sound good... that write or perform actual good sounding music:

^ Im big into virtuoso's and never heard of Segovia or Romero. For me, in the end it usually comes down to Satch-Vai-Johnson(not because they were one of 1st G3) just cause I like them best. Ive heard so much about Gilbert and never heard him before. I take it its ALL about speed with him huh?

A few more of mine:

I like Daudi Baldrs.

Morbid Angel is overrated.

overeated!!! that is beyond contraversial! thier modern vocals may leave something to be desired, but they have always been awesome!

MINE:
1)i hate black metal, because a lot of it sounds like this modern metalcore or whatever you call it, the shrieking vocals are only cool in modernation, and a lot of the time i cant tell if hat im hearing is guitar or keyboard and i dont like that(similar to the reasons i dont like brutal death metal).

funny because black metal and death metal are very much alike, but i know the differnce when i hear it, and i like death metal alot better. i use to think that kreator was my favorite black metal band, but then i learn thier considered thrash (i thought they were black beacuse of the vocals)

2) i would listen to metallica if dave mustaine was doing the vocals

3)Chris Barnes needs to die.

Yeah, Kerry King I hate to say kinda makes me wanna laugh. He seems like he's trying too hard with the apparel and tattoos. And the sunglasses from outer space look silly, but still those guys are doing pretty damn good for an older band. They have changed a little but you can't make the same album over and over. Look at the bands that were around with them and what they've become (Metallica, Anthrax, Megadeth etc), I'd say Slayer deserves some respect from the metal community. Not just saying that because they're my favorite band, but really look at all the bands who turned to shit.
SIX FEET UNDER- I don't hate them, I just think Chris Barnes' voice is worn and I have not heard the last album so I can't comment on it but the Carnage album was terrible, "Snakes" the chorus is laughable.

The screaming technique and music associated with black metal is nothing like that used in metalcore. And I have no idea how you can't tell a keyboard from a guitar...black metal and death metal are very different and you can never judge a genre based on vocals....I'm guessing you're new to metal, a complete noob?

thank you christ illusion, i agree with most everything there except that slayer is not doing good for an older band , and they need to find a way to recreate the speed and heavy of the 80's or not create anything at all. christ illusion fucking sucked, i felt like crying, when i heard Jihad i started yelling in rage in my car. and they won a grammy for one of those songs to which makes me mad, becasue apparently the standard for winning a grammy is not as high as it was in 1986. Tom Arrayas vocals have really gone down hill too, they need to try and bring back that distorted creepy yell he use to do, instead of this clear scream.

i just went on a rant about my favorite band...:ill:
