Controversial opinions on metal

Many people still think that all Heavy Metal fans are violent, satan worshipping, boozing, drug taking outlaw biker pimps! This is nonsense of course, but these prejudices are still a reality. This does not mean that all Heavy Metal fans are harmless, it just means that MOST of us are harmless. Unfortunately, the mainstream media is very good at concentrating on the negative exceptions :(

Most metal fans are pathetic wimps, who walk around in Hail Satan-shirts, and start crying like baby when someone thinks they are satanists.

:kickass:

well maybe not irl but it definitely exists on forums

Jugulator is a better album than Painkiller

No. Jugulator is Painkiller with less variety, even campier lyrics, and lots of shitty samples. It's an ok album (aside from Nostradamus (maybe) they don't have a bad one) but Painkiller did it first and so much better.

That being said, Demolition is better than anything they did after Screaming for Vengeance, Painkiller aside.

Epicus Doomicus Metallicus may be better than some of Sabbath's earlier material.

I'd take it over any Sabbath album. Not for influence or innovation, obviously, but all six EDM songs are virtually perfect in performance/passion, and there are no blatant weaker ones like on most Sabbath albums.

Exactly. Sabbath may have created the sound but that album just takes the songwriting and emotional depth of the music to an entirely new level. It's basically the ideal metal album IMO. Atmosphere, riffs, lyrics, ect ect I could go on forever.

How is it possible to be so wrong?

Jugulator is an endless series of shitty riffs and tough guy lyrics. The only slightly redeemable part is Cathedral Spires, and even then it's still kind of shit. Painkiller, aside from the overplayed and rather mediocre title track, is an incredibly consistent set of catchy, aggressive speed/power metal songs.
