Demilich deserves all the recognition they get. They were pioneers and good ones at that.
Divine Intervention was slayers last good album and one of the ones I play most.
I never could here the supposed otherworldly atmosphere that Slumber of Sullen Eyes possesses. It's always sounded pretty average to me. Nowhere even close to Demilich.
Pioneers of what? Out of curiosity...
Back in 1993, not many people were making technical death metal, or outside from At the Gates, using rhythm leads like that. Not to mention the inherent musicality and quality of composition.

Demigod ... not a matter of technique but of composition. That's what makes it sublime.
